I got my 72 convertible for 8K.. 50k miles and just a bit of rust under the left wheel molding. I got very lucky.

I don't think youd have any problem finding cars in that price range.

i had considered selling my 71 gsx tribute recently, but the wife talked me out of it (damn good woman). Was a little over your target at 12k, but i guess that's close enough to be in the ballpark.

Fred....Man.... That woman is a true keeper there!!! I'd have absolutely no trouble driving your car at all. Hope it all works out for you. I know,I had to part out a decent 68 GS 400 4 speed car to buy diapers, food, clothes, shoes for my daughters,so I know where you are coming from..Now I am too old and poor to get my projects like I want them, but I can drive them though..

    Fred,

Let me know if you ever reconsider selling your car. I live in Mooresville also, and would be interested in buying it.

My 1970 GS 455 has a small amount of rust but is still a very solid car as it has been an Oklahoma car all of its life. It is completely #'s matching showing 52K ,which I believe to be right, with 2 build sheets I found in the back seat. I was planning on trying to get around $11.5K for it which is not far away from your 10K range.

I know where there is a burgundy mist 69 stage 1 4 speed that could probably be bought near that range. Rust free, has a little body damage, and needs some minor assembly work. Seems like a perfect car for you.

    In the past 2 years:
Picked up a 72 Custom ragtop that I use as a daily driver (when it isn't snowing too bad) for $5500, have since put about $1000 in misc parts/upgrades that I wanted to do Just bought a completely rust free 70 custom for $1000 that I will clone, needs brakes, paint and interior to be a driver. Worst deal I got was a 72 GS clone that has a lot of great mechanicals but has rust issues (floor, rear quarters, trunk). Kind of a driver for $6800.

I am planning on selling my 1972 Gs clone. The engine, trans, diff, front and rear suspension were rebuilt 8,000 miles ago. The paint is 10 years old and very shiny with a straight body. There was very little rust repair. It is black ext/black int with 15'' ralleys. Looking to get $12,500. I will send pics via email. The only reason for selling is to fund my next purchase.

There was what looked like a really nice Black 70 Skylark on C-list a few days ago for $4500 or $4750. I was planning on posting the ad here but forgot and can't find it now, probably sold quick at that price.

Someone needs to buy 70GSXFAN's car! I got pictures from him. A really great car to either drive now or restore. Whoever will get a great deal.
