I have a set of 235/60R15 tires on 15x7 road wheels and can barely get them on and off due to quarter panel clearance. Is this typical or am I missing something? I did have the skirts off when doing the removal/installation. Just looking for other '67 owners thoughts. Thanks.

No, you aren't missing anything. My '68 'Cat has exactly the same "problem". My solution will be 225s next time around.

It's one of those things that makes me say "I'm SO glad I have this hobby!" over and over again when switching tires.

One trick is to raise the rear of the car and support at the frame so that the axle housing hangs down. Then using the floor jack under one end of the axle housing, you can jockey the opposite end a bit in order to remove that wheel. Repeat for the other side. I've got 275's on 8" rims in the rear (no skirts), and have to do this every time.

:gp: X 2! I've got the 235s on mine too, but the 70s, not the 60s, and I still have to do this with both the 67 Cat and the 66 Electra. Try and change one after a blow-out with the rickety factory jack...it's an experience I care not to repeat. It was interesting to watch it start to bend as it got higher and higher...

I ran 17x8 wheels and 255-50-17 on the back of my old cat and this was my method too
I was able to run skirts but barely

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one with this issue.
