Building a 67 Skylark driver. Car has had some work done a while back and isn't going to be a frame off job. Just nice sounding, nice looking for cruising around in the summer. I'm taking some artistic license with it. Mainly to confuse people into trying to figure out what I'm doing!!! Pics are from November of 2010.

Started with taking the seats out. Had to repair the seat belt bolt. Then sound deadner and new carpet. Had to take off the tranny housing on the rear and hook the speedo gear back up. Now I can tell how fast I'm going. Brakes were really shot so all new everything. February 2011.

Here's where the confusion will start. I didn't have a grill at all but had a GS hood with hood pins already installed. So it will have a GS theme to it but not exactly accurate. I'm working with what I have. I wanted the hood scoop style anyway. I restored a GS grill using 3 marginal ones. I filled in the skylark emblems on the pillar. I have handed painted the GS emblems to be black inside rather than red. Some of the older skylarks had a gs symbol underneath which I am duplicating.

Here are some upgrades for better driveability. New washer pump with new lines run to the hood with twin spayers(previous owner addition). Aftermarket fan as a backup so I don't ever overheat. New stereo that fits in stock location and has a ipod connection out the back. I put two new speaker in the stock locations. In the dash and In the package tray area. Won't be a booming system but functional. I reinstalled the back window also. New chin spoiler I just had to have. It will be black to match the black hood scoops and black GS 340 side stripes. Here is my stripe test. It will stay the factory sapphire blue with the stripes on the side then. I can't wait. Wheels are painted and look great. I mounted new tires on there too. I added a power brake booster and bled all the brakes again. It's nice have power brakes! April 2011.

New interior. New carpet, new headliner (that was fun!) I repaired the side panels with new backing. I got some black armrests and redid the armrest vinyl in the back. Then new PUI upholstery that I stretched and hooked. New to me black dash pad too, tiny crack but tons
better than the old one which was trashed. For 25 bucks I can live with it!

Engine pics. I have since put the upper radiator hose on correctly. I just followed the way it was put in when purchased and finally hunted down some pics on the right way and it really fits nicely now. Imagine that. Also installed the tach and the tri guages. This has been all cold weather stuff I could do in the garage. Have been waiting for better weather for the body work. How cheesy is the steering wheel center. At least it has an S on it for skylark I guess. Kids like it so it has to stay now. April 2011.
Update: The steering wheel emblem if from an old Jeep Cherokee - I wonder if there's a story there.

Stripping the paint. Now we're getting somewhere. I scored some really good fenders and trunk lid from a nearby guy. New gas tank too, which is installed already.

Painting finished. Scoops in black, added a more subdued stripe set based on the GS 340. It turned out pretty good. I had to respray the hood as I unknowingly dropped a paper towel out of my back pocket onto the front corner of the hood! All I have left is to add the front chin spoiler.

The car looks great, I bet that broke your heart when you saw the towel.

Looks good, you wouldn't happen to have any extra wheel well moldings? Love your car I'm doing the same with mine...a driver. I have taken the "lump" off of a 69 Gs hood and have grafted it to my 67 hood, looks cool.

I think I have one drivers front molding, the larger one of the two but that's it. I acquired some 66 stuff and some early 67 pieces that I resold to pay for all the GS stuff. Post a pic of the hood when you can, that's cool stuff.

I didn't think I would like the stripe, but I do. Nice car!

Here's the last pic after I installed the chin spoiler. It's black to match the scoops and stripe. Cleans up the front end, makes it look lower and blocks off all the suspension stuff. A breeze to install.......
