I’m currently in the process of getting this skylark on the road. I’m getting ready to replace spindle hubs and bearings on the front wheels. I figure I might as wheel do some brake work while I’m at it. Trying to decide between ordering parts for drums or just bite the bullet and do the conversion while I’m here. Are the conversion kits pretty straight forward swap? Currently looking at the kit that TA performance has listed. I have 16 inch wheels on order so clearance should not be much of an issue. Thanks!

With 16in wheels I'd do a 12in Fbody swap, you keep your drum spindles

I have 4 wheel power disc setup on my 67 Skylark. It stops well. The kit was a right stuff kit (spindles, discs, lines, etc). I want to say the whole thing was $1200-$1500. It was done a few years ago (2012). I'm happy i did it. Went 4 wheel drum to 4 wheel disc. You might be able to do it for cheaper depending on what you go with.

Thanks, the right stuff kit is currently the one I’m looking at. Called the Kore3 and possibly fitment issues with the backspacing on the rims need to check template to rims for it.

One other thing i forgot to mention. I had to have the axle hats turned down to accept the discs. It wasn't much. Also the rod between the master and booster had to be shaved down a 1/16 of an inch or so due to dragging brakes.

Good to know, thanks! Car is sitting between 2 lathes and a mill in the shop I won’t have far to go.

I’ve been kicking around going to discs and adding power assist but Then I think I’ve been driving it for 39 years and thousands of miles and it’s always stops beautifully. I’m now at a time though when I need to do a complete brake job so I’m still pondering

Once you go 4WD, you will throw drums out. I went 4WD (already had front discs) and it stops on a dime and gives a nickel back.

    Definately upgrade to the discs.
