Price seems pretty high for a repainted car but the story behind it is cool to me. I was born in Goshen,NY where this car was sold. My Grandparents have lived in Goshen just over 50 years and probably drove past it when it was sitting there new at the dealership.

What is a typical price for a 4 speed convertible GS400? I know they are rare but I didn't think the 67s were quite there in value just yet.

That's a $40K price drop on that car. Unrealistic pricing is why this car has been for sale for years.

It was for sale for more money before? Nuts. I mean you have to walk around with your eyes closed to not see what typical market value is. If your car is not 1 of 1 and no other car like it is selling for as much, its safe to say its over priced.

Nice car, but seems more like 30-40k nice from the picture not 60-100k.

No power brakes or power steering and chrome valve covers and chrome rear end cover. I remember seeing the car for $80-90K on CarsOnLine.com.

Why is car reading 30 mph and ignition switch is off in one of the pics?

Chuck my 67 has the same chrome valve covers with the exclusion of the added vents. Ive heard maybe they were a option in 68s and 69s. Curious if it was for 67s ?

I have never seen the chrome valve covers on a 67 that is competing at AACA or Buick Club of America where points are deducted for non-OEM equipment. I don't consider myself as an expert on 67 Skylarks/GS400's but have been gathering info for the the last 3 years since I bought my first one. My first GS400 came with a set of chrome valve covers as part of the original engine and parts that were out of the car and had been replaced by a 430. I had the valve covers re-chromed thinking they were original and the original engine rebuilt and installed but could not find chrome valve covers in any original 67 research I did so I did not install them on the rebuilt engine in the car.

So, maybe there are some long time 67 experts who can chime in here like GSFred or Ziggy.

I have a pair on my 67 Wildcat - they have Kenne Bell stickers on them . Maybe kenne- bell was selling them? In 67

Its a nice car and all but I think total misuse of the term "unrestored" in description. Its an oxymoron to say unrestored then say it had a total repaint in next breath. Not first time I see folks describe car in that way. For some reason a major facet like overall new paint doesn't classify as restoration. Clearly many parts of the car have had some level of restoration and many cases not authentically done.

That entire car has been gone through. There doesn't appear to be one thing that was untouched. Even the radiator top plate is chromed. I call the ad bogus.

Maybe a retro fit from 68 on the chrome valve covers? I KNOW there was a dealer add on chrome package for the 68-69 models (chrome valve covers)..

  13. nope, those are 67 covers with the built in plug wire holders.

I have a '68 Buick Approved Accessories booklet and it shows and Engine Dress Up Kit, Group No. 0.003, part number 981269 for a 67 GS400, Wildcat, Electra,Riviera without Air Injector Reactor. price $18.50. With Air Injector Reactor, part number 981268,$20.
    Per the text:
An Exclusive for the sports minded Buick owner
The Buick Engine Dress-up kit gives the engine a customized appearance developed exclusively for the most sports minded Buick owner. The kit includes 1 chromed crankcase breather assembly, 2 chromed valve rocker arm covers, 1 chromed oil filler cap assembly, chromed attaching parts and 2 engine identification decals.

It also shows a picture of a '67 400 engine with a star wars air cleaner. Take that Buick judges....:p
Would you lose points at an AACA or Buick Club meet if you had this sheet as proof? They were not available from the factory but neither were other accessories like a passenger mirror or tissue dispenser and many other things.

I lost points at one show for my '68 wheels that have trim rings, the judge says they were not available in '68. I found factory proof that they were and they reinstated my points and sent me my award. I was more interested in proving a point than getting the award.

George, do you have a print copy showing chrome valve covers were available in '68? I have not seen any info on that and I have been looking.

What is that over the 400 decal on the valve cover in the one engine photo on the red GS for sale? The chrome square?

My '67 GTO has factory chrome valve covers. ALL 67 GTOs came with this engine dress up feature from the factory. The 67 GS400 sits in the garage next to the GTO...Birdie* and Kitty**. Birdie couldn't tolerate the thought of Kitty having more engine compartment jewelry than she did. . You know how girls can be! So,I had a set of 67 GS400 valve covers(factory wire brackets and all) chromed and VOILA.....no more sibling rivalry! Being classy gals, neither of them wanted to have the full engine bling treatment(chrome brackets, alternators, etc)and I agreed. Harmony prevails. Too,if Birdie wants a different look, she can always let her cosmetologist(me) know and go back to being a beautiful Buick redhead!

** Tiger(67 GTO ad tagline identifier)

Mike, is that document you posted for 67 or 68 GS 400's. Showing the Star Wars A/C I am thinking it is for 67 but can't see the text well enough to determine which year it is.

    thanks
