It's gonna be close. Might rub the outer fender.
I run the Buick mags, 15 x 7, with 4.375" backspace. T/A 255's are pretty snug to the fender lip.
You're moving the tire 5/8" further out with that 3.75" backspace.
Cooper Cobras are 9.5" wide for the 245, 10.2" for the 255.
    T/A Radials are 9.8" and 10.2".

More backspace would be preferred. 4.5" would be safe, 5" would center the tire in the wheelwell.
This is assuming you still have the original width rear.

Hi Ron. Answered your P.M. posting it here too so others can chime in.

Yes, I'd definitely suggest more backspace..... 4" on a 15 x 7 wheel might be enough but best to try for 4.5" to 5"
    A 15 x 8 wheel might work too, but add 1/2" for a total of 5" to 5.5" backspace.

It's common for the rear axle to be a little off-center, so the left side might fit fine, but the right side may be close to rubbing. (like my red '66)
If you have the stainless wheelwell molding, it's tough to trim it for more clearance. But if you don't have those moldings, you can bend up the fender lip for another 1/2" of clearance. A bent fender lip also makes a softer edge that won't slice your tire sidewall.

Here’s the test fit I just did on my 66. 17x9.5, 5.5” backspace and a 285/40r17 tire. I didn’t want Hino it would even fit. If I roll the fender lips I’m golden!
