Got it. The tools Im looking at are triangle to cylinder shaped. Based on the distributor I should be getting thick flathead style tool, right?

Wouldnt me engaging the starter do the same thing? I have yet to see oil reach the rockers. The oil pump may be shot.

Only if the distributor is installed. The bottom of the distributor keys into the oil pump drive. Then again, given your measly cranking speed, it wouldn't be spinning fast enough.:) The distributor turns at 1/2 the crank speed.

True. I will be making a Prime tool out of an intermediate shaft, be on the look out for another video Saturday evening.

You have gone thru all these tests but you never mentioned if you actually disconnected the torque convertor

Is it my imagination or is it spinning faster? Maybe all this attention is loosening things up?

Maybe a little bit . But with no compression , heads , valve train I think it should be spinning like a whirling dervish .

    Googled Whirling Dervish:

I have them beat. I thing priming the oil pump did help. The Gasket kit is on back order, so I ddnt get to put it back together. I'm aiming for the the first weekend in October.

You might consider turning it by hand just to get an idea of how smooth it turns.

What size is the bolt on the Harmonic balancer?

Deep socket and an adapter works best to clear the pulley. The length is important.

Turns out it wasn't spinning any faster. Still slow. I have rebuilt Heads now, but not a running engine.
