No I didn't miss the point Max Damage . He was saying he just flipped the rotor 180 degrees . Not that he lifted the distributor up out of the drive gear and turned it 180 degrees . He has major engine problems .

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Sorry, after a reread I see that you are probably correct that he somehow just flipped the rotor, which would never have occurred to me.

Which is why Larry and I questioned it . He needs to follow Larry's advice and start from scratch .

Already done. The issue is internal. All Externals check good.

Spent the day pulling the heads. And it revealed a hot flaming cup of nothing. No rust in the cylinders. But there was tons is grit, grime, and corrosion in the intake valley. The coolants holes in the block were completely blocked by grit and are rusted on the inside.

    Here is the latest video:

I'd venture a guess that the timing chain is toast, either stretched to all you-know-what or the gear is broken. Had a Chevy that performed in exactly the same way, and that was the issue.
But you guys probably already thought of this...

The timing chain has been mentioned, but not directly connected to past experience. I was looking for someone to see the engine's performance and diagnose it.

That one valve wasn't opening properly....:(

That still doesn't explain the slow crank. But it does explain the lack of combustion. I'll be doing the water pump and timing chain when the parts get here.

It may if that an exhaust valve I would think. The cam lobes look browner than I've seen as well. I highly doubt a slack timing chain is your issue, but I have been wrong before.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot no plugs.

Disconnect the torque converter and see what you got . Hell its only 3 bolts . Then push the converter back and see what you have .

The coolant holes in the middle of the block are blocked by the head gasket anyway, they do not pass coolant. Only the long slotted hole in the rear is used for coolant. The coolant flows thru the block front to rear, then thru the passage in the rear to the heads, and thru the heads from rear to front.

What about removing the rocker arm assemblies. Very simple and easy and removes a lot from the equation.

Rocker Arms had to come off to get to the Corner bolts on the heads.

Let's see the other side of the heads. :):) Did you find the cause of the valve not opening? What's the plan now?

Ok Got it. To this point all of my engine re-builds have consisted of pulling the engine, putting it on the back of a truck and sending it to the shop. And it was absolutely as hard as I thought it would be. My socket set was almost empty by the time I finally got the heads off.

I will take pictures of the under side. Im literally down to the Timing Chain, Crank and Pistons. Timing chain is on the way. I really appreciate the response, this is the most social interaction I have had since March

I just visualized what you are saying, if the valves arent opening the compression is bound up and basically fight against itself. That is a great hypothesis.

But is the torque converter still bolted to the flexplate ???

The valve that's barely opening is #6 intake.
