At least you could carefully remove the "D" between "GRAN" and "SPORT" if you wanted to... I believe the seller -- EAW - ronounces their name "Eew".
So, you didn't want a second chance at an overpriced, poorly faked, Gran Sport that is just plain ugly? Well just to tempt you, here it is anyway at the same insane price! Hope springs eternal: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Buick...509696?hash=item3da05dd7c0:g:NocAAOSwebVegZcE
That ol' grandsport would surely look most excellent parked under the harbor fright portable canopy next to the single wide in the mud, with a Bud, and some meth in the bowl. ws
But you've got to love the lines & design of the 66's! In some of the pics, they captured that well. But WAY too overboard with the stenciling, interior crap, etc. Steve
That's why this one made me angry. They found a way to make a great looking car ugly. Also, passing a Skylark vin and a 300 series engine as a Gran Sport is pretty nervy!
Too much for my taste as well! It's a shame, someone put a ton of work into it. But it could be a great looking car again with the chrome replaced and some black spray paint to make the interior and engine compartment more original. My first car was a 66 GS that had a funky Maaco paint job on it. The previous owner took it in for a blue with SS stripe paint job and they somehow painted it gold. Here's a pic from when I had it around 1980:
Walt, My first car was my mom’s hand-me-down 67 Skylark in gold mist. It looked a lot like that, but had black vinyl top. It had a junkyard 340, St400 and a 3.23 wagon rear by the time i gave it up. My friend had a Chevy 396 in an a-body that could not lose that old Buick. It made him mad he could only inch away from it. I could tuck behind him and stay right there!
