When comparing a 2-door hardtop roof to a 4-door sedan roof, how do they differ in terms of dimensions and structural design? I'm assuming that the hardtop version is structurally stronger than the one with the pillar, but that's only an assumption.

More to the point, can a pillared roof be chopped off a 4-door sedan, minimally massaged, and then grafted onto a 2-door hardtop body? :Dou:

No way is it going to be minimal... the back glass is different, might create an interesting look to the 2 door...maybe I'm wrong though, I guess we need to know how much of the roof
you want to replace. if you get into the c pillars and back glass it will be really tough. look at the area above rear window, see if you want to tackle that bit.
2 door has a definite rake to the rear window.

It reminds me of the 68 coupe vs convertible - quarter panels above wheels are very different.

I Have a 2 dr post roof you can have for free if you pay the shipping. It has a few rust spots at the top of the windshield that have been cut out buy someone who started to restore the car and never welded in, it was stripped and never painted so it has surface rust.
