So this car just fights every step of the way. I got the headlights to work, and some of the tail lights (headlights on) and some of the brake lights. The turn signals have yet to work. I decided to replace all the rear sockets. Now all the tail lights come on with the headlights. Yay! However, NONE of the brake lights work. To eliminate a bunch of dead ends: The sockets are wired correctly. I do not believe the brake issue has anything to do with the replacing of the sockets. The brake lights come on when I apply voltage to the white wire off the brake switch. There is no voltage coming from the green wire at the switch. I have NO desire to switch to sequential LED. Fuses are all good. Where does the green wire get power from? It goes off the brake switch and up into the big fat factory taped up harness that I'd really rather not have to strip apart. Again, the brake lights were working before, just some of the sockets had failed. One more weird thing, the brake lights only worked with the key on. In my past experience brake lights have been constant, like the headlights. PLEASE HELP! All of the wiring looks factory, and is in great condition. I just don't get it.
Sounds like a bad/broken wire in the signal light switch at the top of the column. Unless it has a tilt wheel.
Looking at the wiring diagrams the white wire is the one that goes to the turn signal switch. When I apply voltage to it the brake lights come on. Should rule out the switch right?
I got it! The previous owner removed the pink wire at the ignition switch and wired it straight to the ignition so it would start, bypassing the fuse block. Now I need to figure out where the ignition was SUPPOSED to get power from. Dang, fix one issue, find a new one!
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! Fixed the brake lights. Fixed the igntion. Fires right up with the correct wiring. Now, the f@&king taillights stopped working!!! WTH!!!!!?????
