Looking for a good roof for a 1965 Buick skylark 2 door hardtop that is rust free and close to central Canadian border
I have a 2dr post roof that has a two 3 inch places cut out by someone who started to restore in and it's been stripped so it has surface rust. You can have it for free, just pay the shipping, I'll stick it on a pallet for you.
Where are you located. Can you get a quote to ship it to nonnan nd. I have a 1965 skylark 2 door hardtop that somebody decided it needed a sunroof and ruined the roof
Bill, I have an excellent, 53,000 mile 65 GS roof.... its nearly perfect! Slight thinning white paint. NO ROT. Heres the good part; It comes with a complete, excellent running, original 53,000 mile numbers documented engine, solid body, trans, bucket seats, console with tach... etc... here: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1965-gran-sport-53-000-documented-miles.327436/
Replacing the entire roof is a lot of work when you get involved with the flanges all the way around. The best way to do that is to clean it up around the sun roof opening and section that part in from another roof. How close to the windsheild, how wide and how long is the opening. You really just need to replace the outer skin in that area.
He wants $15K for his 65 GS. My roof is already cu off and it's free. That car and I are 2 miles apart in Seminole Fl.
To ship the entire roof would probably cost $250 to $350. Is that what you want? If so make sure you are serious about it since it would be a lot of work for me to take it down from the pallet rack, drag it to my shipping department weight it, shop around the best deal on shipping. It would be a couple of hours of work. DO YOU WANT THE ENTIRE ROOF OR JUST A SECTION? If you ship just the section you need it may only cost $75 or so. ARE WE COMMUNICATING??
Thank you for your work. I would need the complete roof. Will talk it over with my son who owns the car and send you a message through the forum. Thanks for nou will get you answer soon. Bill
In case you can't find a `65 Skylark in your area you can use a roof off of a `64-`65 Chevelle, Olds Cutlass, or GTO/Lemans/Tempest. At least it widens the search field. I've got one off a `65 GTO but getting it to you would probably be price prohibitive.
Talked to my son last night he said he is going to pass on the 65 2 dr sedan roof and will probably just repair his roof. We were hoping to find one close enough to drive to get it. Thank you for your offer and all your effort Bill
Your welcome! Replacing an entire roof is a lot of work, you would be better off just replacing the missing outer skin.
