Hey guys - my friend just purchased a 65 Buick Electra 225 Convertible sitting in a garage for the last 15 years, all original unmolested.

He's looking for a gas tank - is one available new? Looked around and cant seem to find one.

Also looking for front and rear sway bars for this boat.. Tried looking for them new/aftermarket and can't seem to find them, only Wildcat parts instead. He can go with used if they were available on this car.

Any chance getting them from someone on the board?

In fact, I'm sure he'll need a lot of stuff so any contacts would be appreciated.

Just checked the CARS website a few minutes ago and they don't seem to have the parts needed, although they do have parts. The good things is they are 15 minutes from us here in Jersey.

I can't remember where I read it, but there's a company out there that makes a new tank for a 65 Impala; - might be able to make it work. I think I saw it in Hemmings. The tanks from 65 to 68 in full-size Buick and Olds should fit, so there's a lot to choose from in the form of salvage. As for front end parts, those from a Wildcat are exactly the same, it's the LeSabre stuff that's very different, particularly in the 65-67 series.

All the 65 full-size Buicks would use the same basic structure; the only real difference was the addition of an applique strip on the top. The LeSabre was black, the Wildcat was silver, and the Electra was real wood veneer. Otherwise the basic frame, instrumentation and switches were identical. 1965 was a one year thing; - it was similar to the 64 in look, but very different in parts. There isn't much interchange like there was between the 66 and the 67 models.

Here again, this is salvage yard stuff, I've found that there aren't many people who stockpile these types of parts, there's probably a few 1965 Wildcat guys on this board who might still have something.
