Just picked my '65 up from media blast. Looks pretty good overall. Drivers side quarter had been hit and repaired somewhat decently. Some rust around the passenger side tail light, floors and trunk drip rails....otherwise solid.

Chassis is done, rebuilt 10 bolt, all new lines, rebuilt brakes, chevelle disc brake conversion, air ride, fox shocks, boxed control arms, GS sway bars.

Getting excited to get it back together!

Looks like a solid foundation to start with, should turn out sweet!

You did a nice job on the frame, it looks fantastic! If you do as good of a job on the body as you did on the frame, that car is going to win some trophies.

The '64 and '65 Skylarks are my favorites. I love seeing them restored rather than parted out. :TU:

Thank you! I'll get a few more pictures when I get the engine and trans put back in the chassis over the next week or so.

I know these cars aren't particularly valuable, but after getting into it I got a little carried away. Plus they are pretty unique, you don't see as many as you do the Chevelle's and GTO's.

They are lighter than the later Skylarks and lighter than the other A-bodies the same year and in my opinion the best looking ones of the bunch. With these cars its more a labor of love rather than how much it will be worth when done. Besides, a old car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for one.

These cars are a great platform to make into a fast street/strip, race or even just a weekend cruiser. Front and rear suspension is the same as the other A-bodies, so there's not a shortage of aftermarket support there, good choice.

Can't wait to see more pics of this build unfold, keep up the good work! :TU:

I like your attention to detail. in my opinion that's what makes a good build into a great build. when people are as wowed by the chassis as they are the paint and body it makes all the extra labor hours worthwhile.
    Car is looking great !!

Thought I should throw on a few more pictures of the progress. The car is now done with metal work.

New AMD one piece floor pan/stiffeners burned in, rust around the taillights repaired, all the molding/emblem holes have been filled. Doors have been smoothed. Bedliner applied to the bottom of the car, top of the floor and bottom of the roof then all sealed up in DP sealer. Ready for body work! Excited about the progress!

And no comments about my messy garage. :)

Looks great. I love that body style. What color do you plan on painting it?

And compared to my shop, you can eat off that floor.

I'm going to finish the car in white. Along with a few other touches along the way that "original" enthusiasts will hate. :)

Also, as all the moldings are being removed from the car, I've got a full set of quarter, door and fender trim. Don't know if they are worth anything, but let me know if you're interested!

Looks like you are doing it right. It should be a knockout!
