Can anyone out there decipher this cowl tag off a 64 Riviera? Has a 425 dual quad set up...want to know if it came with the car...and if these cars came with posi. Car is red on white... Regards, 455NGLIDE
Best I can do with this, http://datatagdecoder.com/_beta/form.html XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ST 64 - 4 FB 23714 BODY TR 624 L L PAINT ACC EXT 2 KR 3 4 5 W xxxxxxxxxxxx Data Tag Decoder Results Year 1964 Make Buick Model Assembly Date Assembly Plant Flint, MI Fisher Body Sequence 23714 Lower Color Claret Mist Upper Color/Conv Top Claret Mist Interior Option White Leather and Vinyl Accessory Codes Accessory Group 1 Tinted windshield and Windows Power windows (Unconfirmed) Power bucket seats (Unconfirmed) Accessory Group 2 Air conditioning (Unconfirmed) Rear speaker (Unconfirmed) Accessory Group 3 Accessory Group 4 Accessory Group 5 Deluxe front seat belt with retractors (Unconfirmed) Extra 1 Extra 2 Don't think the cowl plate denotes engine.
Besides the engine code located in front of the valley pan on the passenger side if an original 2x4/425 the code would be KX. On the drivers side in front of the valley pan should start with 7K & 7 numbers. If they match the VIN code on the top of the cowl on the left front top of the cowl you will know if it's original to the car. The VIN number & engine number should be the same. Tom T.
Two letter code is KX147 but the other number reads 8K1042946 so..its not original to this car I presume. Additionally it does have power windows , a/c, rear speaker and tinted glass. Thanks for the replies. I posted pics of the carbs + intake # from this vehicle on another thread titled "Name That Carb"...thanks for the replies. Regards, 455NGLIDE
