i am looking for a clock for a 1964 Electra or more specifically a motor for a 1964 buick electra clock. Please let me know if you have on for sale cobravii@shaw.ca
I took mine apart for cleaning and when I was testing it I let the smoke out of the electric motor. The rest of the clock runs nicely after cleaning and lubricating. SO... I need to figure out how to repair the windings on my motor or replace the motor or replace the whole clock or convert it to quartz.
Just my opinion here. It would be less costly to convert to quartz. It's something you can do yourself. I've done MANY.
I bought a clock for a -61 that wasn't working. I could wind it by hand and it work as long as the spring where tight. It turned out that someone had short circuited it and a small wire had burn throug. It was looking somewhat of a fuse. It was easy to solder in an ordinary thin wire and the clock worked again.
The coil out of any GM clock should work, they worked to the same spec. I would just file the points to ensure that they were flat and true and then if necessary, set the spring up on a different coil if they had a draggy or bad pivot.
well what do you know..... t started working again! And this after acquiring two nice working clocks.
