Hey everyone. I had posted a thread about this same car back in 2014, well life happened. Last year my Mother was diagnosed with and beat cancer so that has occupied most of my time. It has been slow going moving forward with the project.

Here is part of the original post.

1958 Buick Super Riviera Coupe, 36k miles, 364ci Nailhead V8 4bbl carb, Heater Defroster, Safety Group, Windshield washer and wide angle wipers, Tinted glass.

So here is the next chapter! It was pulled out of the garage and has seen daylight for the first time since 1983.

I jacked it up and pulled all 4 wheels off so we can put new tires on it. Next time I'm down there I will get some detailed pictures of the interior. Its has some mildew on the seats but I'm sure they will clean up, I pulled out the old rotten carpet and sound barrier foam board stuff. I was quiet surprised the all the floor pans are intact. The dash is dry rotted and cracking everywhere, probably going to be torn out and throw away. Much more to come.

    Update: July 15 2016

Hello guys, I got a call from my local garage buddy saying that my wheels and tires are ready. Went and picked them up and got them back onto the car. Now that the car is out in the light and i can actually get under and around it I have found that it has rust in the rockers and a little bit on both rear wheel well areas, not too bad. Now on to the pictures!

On the old thread someone was talking about the '60 Olds in the garage so I grab some not so good pictures of that too.

Also while I was in the garage I found what looks to be like 58 Special bumpers that are in decent shape.

More too come as I progress and feel free to ask any questions, I will try and post my progress as much as I can so stay tuned if you are interested.

That is a record for carb corrosion.

As long as the chrome and floors are solid it looks like a good project. The chrome costs will clean your bank account on short notice, and these cars can rust out really bad in the floors, braces, and rockers. The 58s are my all time fav

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Looks like a lot of work, but it will be a cool car when complete. The '60 Olds is pretty cool as well. Looks like it was crashed and the front clip was replaced, but never completed.

I dont know what happened to it, but it has 4 other random panels in the garage and a roller outside, so Im assuming there were two cars. We have to get it out of the garage so we can get it all together and put it up for sale.

The chrome doesn't look too bad. I agree with the above post. I know of a guy who spent $5,000 on chrome for a '55 Special 2dr ht.

The car is 99% complete the only thing i can find that is missing is the two fender ornaments. All the side trim is there, bumpers, grill its all there.

Those fender ornaments look very close to the '55 hood ornament.
I don't know if the base is the same.
But that "V" looks the same.

I don't think the bases are the same but like you said the "V" is the same. One of the bases is broken off on the car, when I get it out ill snap a picture.

You will want those ornaments in pit free shape. Those small rings are very very difficult to fill in pits. My old 58 parts car has the ornaments and the spears. They are pitted, but in a pinch are repairable. I can give you contact info on the person who currently owns it if you need.

VEry good potential with great curvy lines to boot. In the meantime may we suggest taking 3 gallons of Marvel Mystery Oil and one garden tank sprayer. Spray everything and every area down. Body, Frame and every component, nook n cranny, engine bay you name it and any other area you can get to. Then as it sets the blush rust will evaporate and you can come back and rub it off. Then repeat treatment. This will preserve the car and help reverse surface oxidations.
