I have reinstalled the linkage that goes from the gear selector to the transmission in my 58 Buick wagon. I did not alter any of the linkage lengths. However, when I move the gear selector itself, it will not go to the far left/park side. Any thoughts on whether this is just hanging up somewhere or if I need to redo it somehow? Cheers.

I once had to realign my shifter as well. I swapped engines and somehow must've messed with the adjustment on the linkage. I had to sit in the car and move through the shift points while my dad loosened and adjusted the linkage. I would tell him when everything lined up and he would tighten it there. Hope this helps.

Dear James: Been off this site for a while. I'll get my daughter (she's pretty handy) to pop over this weekend. I gather that there is more than one position to adjust the linkage at the actual tranny. I'll try it! Cheers. Michael.
