My '70 Skylark was my first car, going on 15 years now. It's been through many rebuilds and paint jobs over the years. Currently being redone top to bottom. It's had a 350, rebuilt '71 455 and a rebuilt '70 455. It's was painted like a GSX (but in blue with black stripes) two times and it has been red since '95. I'm going to paint it in the spring, don't know what color this time. Have a new motor built for it to hopefully put it in the 10's.:Brow:

Im on my fourth buick,(third GS)bought this one in 91 for a song,a 72 with a 68 350 in it.blew up that slug in 97 and placed a proper 72 455 that I had stored in my dads garage since the early eighties ,he was thrilled to get that corner of his shed back after 15 or so years.I cant recall how many times he tried to get rid of it although he did manage to chuck the orig intake:ball:had to settle for an edelbrock.currently the old girl (named LILWING)after her favorite Jimmy Hendrix song is getting a long over due resto.floors,Q panel, core support, paint and a fresh interior.I cant wait for spring, and Ilove it when folks who dont know any better say "hey nice 442"I just smile and say thanks, but its a mopar. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL:grin:

 Checking a "perpetual calendar" to figure out the date, I think I first drove my Skylark on June 12, 1966.

But then again, I wasn't the primary operator until 1996, just about exactly 30 years later.:(

My 29 year old son recently asked me if he could drive the car. I replied that he will get the car the same way that I got it....and I don't intend for that to be anytime soon.

Bought mine on last day of July, '89, right before my birtday. August 12th is my birthday. The day after my 18th birthday...I wrecked it! 13 days after I bought it....Here begins my forced crash course (no pun intended) in automobile repair and restoration. Of course, since it's a Buick, the mini van I hit on the highway went to the junkyard, and I drove home. A van tried to get revenge in the '90s by broadsiding me after running a stop sign. Same story: van went to the junkyard, I drove home.:) I think vans got the hint, none have messed with the car since.

WOW:jd: , looks like some long-term ownership here. Wished I could say I started out with a V8 Buick but at least the T-Rs brought me to the V8s.:beer

    Hi Guys,

I bought my '70 GS455 4-speed conv. (my avatar pic) back in Oct. 1988 after wrapping my first car, a pristine (and NOT an exaggertion in any way either) 1972 GS455 hardtop with only 48,000miles around a telephone pole at 90+MPH. :ball: :ball: I would still have THAT car too to this day if that had not happened but the frame rail on the passenger side was buckled in seven places going all the way back, not to mention what the front of the car looked like!! The conv. was not in too good of shape when I aquired it so many of the good '72 parts still live on attached to it.:TU: The engine and trans (TH400) was still alive and well in a '72 Nova last I heard. :Do No:

Anyway....looks like just over 14 years for my convertible!

I had my 69 GS for 14 (Aug. 1988) years minus two, I sold it to a guy I knew (separation with 1st wife) with the agreement that if he sold it he would come a ask me to buy it back first. He had it for about two years and never drove it because he didn't have driver license, he never change the title out of my name that two years. And I bought it back with the agreement that I had to buy a transmission with it that he had rebuilt for the GS.

I've had my 70 GS 350 since July 1997. It just turned 54,000 miles last month. I bought it with 51,000 miles. In Oct. 97 I bought a 70 Riv with 35,000 on it, but it was wrecked. I pulled the engine and tranny and junked it. Its still in the yard with most of its parts still attached. I then bought a 76 Electra in Oct 2000 with 50,000 on it. It must have spent its entire life under a pine tree. It was pretty well rotted. I still have this one. My buddy ran across a 67 sportwagon with 120,000 miles, he bought it for the s-p 400 for $200. He was going to junk it, but I had never seen one before so he gave it to me. It sets next to the Electra. In Sept of 2001 I bought a 72 GS 350 ( the car that got me liking Buicks) from a good friend who moved to Fla. It has about 180,000 miles on it. The car is pretty much wasted but has some cool options (like cloth interior-thought everything was vinyl back then). It also sets next to the Electra. My next car is a 67 Special 4 door sedan I got from my brother in July 2002. He got one of my 455's for his 71 Skylark. It sets 100 yards away from the Electra next to my pole barn. And finally, my most recent purchase (Oct 2002) is an 86 Regal. I bought it with 42,000 miles on it. It's in the barn. I could go on about the Ford's I own, but I'm sure you folks would hate it.

It seems that the Buicks I run across and buy are either low milage and nice (exception to the Riv and the Electra) or worn out piles of poo poo.

My '72 Skylark was my first car and I bought it in May '96 right before I turned 16. Its been through a few motors and trannies, and it now sports a '70 455 and a 200-4R is ready to go in. I have been wanting to get it painted since I got it, and I am hoping to put on a fiberglass front end and get it painted this spring.

Bought my 71 Stage 1 in the summer of 1986 at the ripe old age of 17and with no idea what it was, so have owned that car for almost 17 years...have owned my 72 GS ragtop for two years as of Nov 13, hopefully it will be done in the next 1.5 years or so.

Also owned a 71 GS 455 #'s matching car from 91-96 (fire red, black bucket interior, white vinyl roof, went to Minnesota), and parted out a 72 GS 455, and also own another #'s matching 72 GS 455 which will most likely get parted out as well, so I have been/am responsible for a total of five GS's over the years.

My Stage 1 is part of the family. Of course you can see them on my website.

I found my 70 GS 455 4 speed in a guys back yard on the outskirts of Houston in Oct of 1983. It had a smashed windshield from debris from a hurricane the previous year and it wouldnt start( someone had put an inline fuse to the pos. side of the coil and it was blown). Once the clutch was broken loose from the flywheel it started right up. The body was rust free but needed paint.
I gave the guy $1500 for it and have been dumping money into it ever since!
