Hello , it's kinda difficult to say a price , but this car looking quite good , I love this color ... mine was born Ivory Gold Mist w/black top and one day it's gonna return that color !! :TU:

It's not a bucket / console car , but just to see the dash/instrument panel this car was well maintain it could worth in the 7000$+ range IMO

Not so sure it's worth that much today. It's a Skylark, and there is some rusting. In a WI car, that's not a good sign. Do a thorough personal inspection, or hire a professional to inspect it for hidden rust problems. I'd put it more in the $4-$5k range.

So, if its solid other than what is described...and i bought it between that 4-5K range... In your guys opinion, would that be a good buy/investment or do you see these cars going down in value and demand....I fell in love with this car at first site, but im trying to be a smart buyer and not an impulse one :)

I wouldn't recommend buying a Buick Skylark as an investment. Buy it because you like it and want to own and drive it. If it ends up needing a lot of restoration money invested, you are unlikely to get your money back if you ever wanted to sell.

I share this opinion , I base my 'price' in comparison with mine who is a Skylark Custom , and I didn't buy it as an investment but to enjoy it :TU:

I agree, a skylark is not an investment vehicle. 5k max for that car. you'll never get what you put into it back. then again, very few vehicles will give back. Not that that's an issue, though. Why would you purchase it? Fun and uniqueness? That's why I have a 68 skylark. People love the look of this car despite it not being a Charger, Mustang, Camaro, etc. Wherever I go in my Skylark people flock to it. Why? I think because it stands out from the crowd and people are amazed how great the body lines are on this particular Buick body style. It's not a muscle car or a sought after nameplate but it looks damn good!!!

Here's what it can look like. Mine was originally that color.

The Tach is no longer on the dash. PO placed it there.

Yes, in 68 they did if you ordered an auto car.

Men....thank you for all your constructive criticism, opinions, and suggestions. I'm will not be buying this car to try to flip it and make a quick dollar on it. This will be a sunday cruiser so to speak that i can enjoy and admire.

However, on that note, i wont by a car that i think is a great example of american car manufacturing during its prime if i have one doubt in my mind that is going to lose value. Again, im not looking to make a quick buck here...but i want something that i do not have to put little if any money into and that is going to hold its value for what i paid for it (based on the fact what i paid for it is what its legitimately worth). I hope you guys understand where im coming from. I'm trying to spend my hard earned money wisely here on a 1 owner 53,000 original mile skylark. Original, its just that...and if i decide to buy it, i plan on not touching a thing on it. Thank you for your time guys. :beer

What type of info can you guys point me to in regards the 2 speeds. Similar to the chevy 2-speed powerglides? Any reliablity issues?

I've always heard they are reliable but you're not going to want to put a high HP engine in front of one. Won't hold up. Well, not without some major internal strengthening. I've heard that drag racers have used Chevy powerglide 2-speed tranny's. Don't know about buicks.

I did not know there was another trans used in late 60's GM cars that was not a power-glide.

It would be weird to have a 2 speed auto. Some auto maker is making a 7 speed auto now.

In 1968, the 350 cars got the ST300 2spd auto if auto trans was ordered. A GS400 came with the ST400 3spd trans, if auto was specified. In 69, the TH350 3spd was what you got if ordering an auto trans in a GS350.
