Here’s the link; the missing/found/restored/stolen van was found, thoroughly stripped (even the carpet!) and the restorer who was arrested for the theft is suspect number one. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2018/09/28/wild-cherry-chevy-van-from-van-nuys-blvd https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vi...=email&utm_content=18_November_14_HagertyNews
Interesting story. I think the guy that restored it did a nice job on the outside but hacked the interior. Too bad he completely destroyed it now. Not sure of what to make of the story on how he originally "found" it though. Sure it was abandoned but someone still owned it.
I had been a while back at the time knew it was missing , I didnt realize they had found the shell. lots of twists and turns in this vans history
Here is a video of the restored van and the suspect in the case. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...4406BA0737EA24CEBF3B4406BA0737EA24C&FORM=VIRE
It’s not hard for me to believe that the owners might not have discovered it missing for six months if they didn’t live on the property. I can also believe that they may have not known about the restoration until it had been finished, but it sure is convenient. But... Unless the restorer can prove he contacted the son(?) or acquired it legally, he’s screwed. That said, the owners crapped in their hats pushing it this hard-what could have been a happily resolved misunderstanding (van restored, payments made one way or the other, shared ownership maybe(?)) turned into a ruined van and probably ruined life for the restorer. Kinda like the truck/442 video—failing to give a little isn’t worth the damage. Patrick
