Just refreshed my 2004r sat sits behind my 455 in my 71. I do run a Summit Racing brand aluminum radiator with trans cooler. My coolant certainly never overheats......but how necessary is it to either abandon the radiator cooler and run a dedicated cooler or inline with the alum radiator or just use the radiator? What's the best way for a street driven cruiser?

Jay on my th400 I put an extra deep Derale pan with cooling tubes and ran my trans lines to a stand alone borgs&warner external cooler. My AE161 aluminum rad does have the provisions for the trans but I decided to go stand alone. I also have an 7" electric fan wired to a switch infront of the cooler for "just incase" if I get stuck in traffic on s hot day but I've never had to use it yet. I have a temp gauge with an in pan sensor and the highest I've seen the temps go was 160 in dead stop traffic idling in gear. Hope this info helps at all?
Heat is your transmissions #1 enemy. They say a trans that runs at 220 compared to 200 will have about 50% less life span.
