Hello, I'd like to clean up and replace the current rubber fuel lines to my car(1970 GS455 with Edelbrock Performer intake). The carburetor is a QFT SS-Series Carburetor 880CFM VS -4150

    https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/carburetors/quick_fuel/street/ss-series/parts/SS-880-VS

Here is what it looks like now:

I'd like to get rid of the rubber setup for a carburetor feed line.

Are all Holley carbs that indicate they are '4150' a size '6 AN' for the fuel connections?
I couldn't find any specific mention of this on the Holley site.

    Would something like this work?

I'm not a fan of the braided stainless ones with multiple tees as it seems to me there are more 'points' for leakage. Also not a fan of the 'multiple color' logs....looking for black or chrome..

I would like to get opinions on the type of supply line from the pump (normal 455 fuel pump) to this fuel line setup. I'm thinking of either braided or steel supply(if I go steel, that would rule out the Trans-dapt one I picked out). I've read some other threads and it sounds like you have to make/bend your own steel supply lines as any 'stock' ones are not going to work with an after market carb.

Would something like this work? Is braided the way to go?

Do I need to use a 6 AN size for the hose from fuel pump to the carb feed?

Any and all comments welcome as I'm learning...
    thanks
    Len

The AN designation is the outlet side of the fitting . That should be 7/8" threads into the fuel bowl and then you can have -6AN (3/8") or -8AN (1/2") outlet going to the braided line or whatever you choose . I personally don't care for the braided line , kinda like the hard line AN style better . That version for your carb should be anywhere from $55 to $85 for a good quality setup . You can build your own AN hard line using nuts and tube sleeves but not really any cheaper after you get done . selection can be confusing until you study a couple catalogs and info .
EDIT : couple pics of hard lines i made up . one shows how the AN line nut and AN line sleeve mount . but like i said new line assy not much more expensive by the time you get done buying fittings , line , time planning and cutting etc . plus the AN angle is different than a standard flare angle . thats why i used the softer copper/nickle alloy line , figured it would "form" better . check summit #AED-60945BK - black n silver AED line assy , include fittings into carb , $55+ . mine cost me at least $40.00 i think . and those style trans dapt etc chrome lines are minimum quality , sometimes i have to drill out the ends to open them up to 3/8" . some are ok . at least they are cheap .

Jim Weise made the braided lines for my AED1000 over 8 years ago. Always leak free.

Thank you for the comments deadmanscurve. I've decided to take your advice and ordered the Summit AED-60945BK along with a Aftermarket Pump to Carburetor Fuel Line Kit SUM-G3156B.

    Thanks!

Related to this topic.. something I learned thru trial and error here, and then was verified by my dyno operator.

The absolute most consistently leak free inlet fitting for a Holley carb bowl, are the original steel fittings that come in the carb. While I, and others have had success with aftermarket fittings in the past, my recent work with a dual dominator setup was very frustrating.. very good looking aftermarket aluminum bowl fittings, with nice new gaskets, that would not seal... drove me nuts..

Recounting all the issues to Ron on the dyno when we were testing that motor, his remark was "the steel inlet fittings are always the best"... and from a man that has seen and worked with literally thousands of Holley carbs, his word on this is gospel..

Going forward, I will always be looking to maintain the original steel Holley bowl fitting, and then put the AN adapter in that fitting, for the feed setup.

This is the adapter that screws right into the Steel bowl fitting..

thanks . good to know .
    I think i'll get a couple next time I order .
just thinkin' - something I noticed on a couple aftermarket "stock holley" style inlet fittings was that the threads were not cut deep enough and the 3/8" flare fuel line would leak because it felt tight but the flare connection was not making a full contact .

I forgot to post a picture of the final setup(no more rubber hoses!). Its been in use for some time now with no leaks.
