Going to put a engine oil cooler and maybe a remote filter on the Riv. The cooler I have is set up with 10 AN inlet / outlet. wondering if thats going to be to much of a restriction. IIRC # 10 is 1/2"

How do you plan to plumb the cooler in???

With a basic pump I'm not sure I'd want any restriction

Are you using a scavenger setup or just an add on block at the filter housing

I use -10 lines with straight AN fittings on my 460 Mustang. The sandwich adapters usually need a bit of clean up to flow well. I use a Ford Super Cobra Jet adapter. I have a System 1 remote filter set up for it too, but haven't gotten the car back together yet. It's a lot of plumbing.

This is the mount I have on my car. I have -12 feeding my scavenger. -10 the rest of the way.

I liked this one since it had oring fitting not pipe and had a gage port since with the scavenger I was loosing the factory port to become the entrance back to feed the block oil.

If using a sandwich mount you won't have that issue.

The billet parts seem to have better machining and more flow. I looked at many b4 buying all the cheaper cast part had serious blockages behind the threaded fittings

I have also used and loved canton racing products for this same reason very clean open flowing.......but they are not cheap.

I had planned on just putting an adapter in place of the stock filter location. Making up braided lines to run out of that into the remote filter then to the cooler then back into the adapter. Theres not a lot of room between the frame and end of the stock filter which is why the filter would have to be relocated.

I'm running 1/2" fittings and hose for the setup on my 215 (TA Performance Billet Oil Pump Cover and some remote mount filter from someone else), and even with the plumbing involved oil pressure going into the block is much higher than it ever was stock.

I don't know just how much of that to attribute to the very pricey oil pump cover or lack of restriction in the plumbing, but it would seem that the pressure didn't drop much afterwards on it's way into the block. I also had frame clearance issues, but there wasn't even enough room to add anything on to the stock filter fitting, hence the current setup.

@Bens99gtp: that looks like a very nice piece, I wish I gone with something like that. I'm not too thrilled with the mount I'm using, perhaps I'll swap when the 215 gets into its new home.

That adapter thing that has TA Stamped on it... What is it and where does it mount. Looks pretty cool.

I think is some like TAs version of a scavenger.

It goes where the factory oil filter housing goes

Looking at it on line I dont think it will work for this application as I do not have a ext feed from the pan on this engine. Shame it wont pick up the oil in the stock location.

they get rid of several turns and restriction point by going to an external pick up

I personally wouldn't trust barbed fitting to oil line.......too much chance to leak or worse come off under pressure.

With the remote mount filter dont forget to put the filter higher than the pump......it will help keep oil in the line and the pump will stay primed and pick up faster

Very limited on space on the second generation Riv

I'm not a fan of it myself, but it's how I had it setup originally (there's a lot of things I'm slowly fixing on this old Special of mine). Haven't had any issues, but it'll definitely change once the 215 gets transplanted into my Chevy LUV.
Yeah, I had to make a pan and pickup for this setup, but I had to make a custom pan to fit an aftermarket front crossmember anyway. That said, the 1/2" hose and fittings didn't seem to cause any issues (Earls Performance Super Stock hose).

If you use PTFE hose, I'd try to go with the smooth style instead of convoluted if fitment allows. The minimum bend radius is larger, but I'd imagine it would cause less pressure loss, though how much of a difference, I honestly don't know.
