My wagon is having some issues recently. The battery keeps dying. Problem is probably linked to dome light. the problem. The dome light will come on almost anytime it wants. It will come on when I am driving, a real pain when I am driving at night. It is random not after hitting a bump or anything. It will stay on after I turn it off. I have to slam the door several times to get it to turn off. but I suspect it turns on when I don't know it and kills the battery. I tried replacing the door switches to no avail. messing with the headlight switch doesn't help.

Anyone have an idea what to check?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Does your headlight switch with instrument dimmer turn the dome light on properly when set all the way to bright and past the detent? And does this same switch also turn the dome light off properly?
Does your dome light have its own on/off switch? If so, does that work properly?
Have you tried seeing what happens when you open each door and close it regarding the operation of the dome light?

If the door jam switch is threaded in you can adjust it out a bit .

I would pull the fuse or the bulb and see if the battery problem stops. Once you figure that out, work on the secondary issue.

You should be able to push the door switch in and turn the light on or off. There is an orange wire that powers it. I broke one in my car. Replacements are readily available.

Sometimes a brake light switch fails to open, I try to glance at the brakes
(and lights) as leaving a car. Another fault was a trunk light that stayed on
all the time, I added a manual switch which also allowed leaving the
    trunk open. Bruce Roe

Yep, had that happen once. The car worked all week but if I didn't drive over the weekend, it was dead Monday morning.

I finally found it one cool morning when I noticed there was no dew on that part of the trunk.
