I put something for sale on craigslist and got some A-hole wanting me to do some stupid (code) thing. Being old and very low tech, I had no idea what it was about. I didn't even know how to get the code he sent me. He kept insisting I send the code so he could be sure I was real. I told him to call me. He said he would after I sent the code and he knew I was real. Being old I had enough and was pissed, so I told him to pound salt. Then I googled craigslist code and saw it is a scam. If someone wants you to send a google code, tell them to Pound Salt.
I get that all the time. I was selling the beater and someone tried doing that to me. Wanted to make sure I was "real". He said he wanted to see the car and said he was in my town. Told him to meet me at the Starbucks on Sunrise right by my house. Kept telling me I need to do the code thing so he can be sure. I told him that if I show up at Starbucks with a Buick GS, how much real did he want? He got frustrated with me and said how I was complicating things! Ha!
Must be something new. Al I get is the fake check and a transporter to pick up the car and the extra money over the asking price of the car.
Ah you guys are way to nice. I reply that I’ve had lots of scammers so then to send me a code to show me they are real once they do that I’ll send them the code to show them I am real. That gets em all confused. We end up in this endless you send the code first loop. I spend many hours each day on the phone. Many of these calls I just listen on so multi tasking on these sorts of scammers keeps me interested
