As the title says, 1971 Skylark Coupe project. Bought this when I was a much younger man, started working on it with my pseudo father-in-law, had a falling out and pretty much been sitting since (almost 20 years now but always stored indoors). Was setting it up for road racing and I'll try to remember all I can. This was a frame off project, sand blasted and then painted with PPG Deltron. Front suspension is stock arms with urethane bushings, 500 lb Hotchkis springs, QA1 adjustable shocks, solid sway bar. I bought the PST urethane kit for the suspension and body. Rear is a 10 bolt 4.10 posi with disc brakes from a Trans Am (have calipers and rotors), no hop bars, boxed stock arms, solid sway bar and Carrera coil overs (200 lb) mounted with Chris Allston's Chassisworks adjustable shock mounts. I have a stainless brake line kit with AN fittings which some of is installed. The body underside was blasted and then painted as well. The body is an AZ car so in really good shape rust wise. Has a dented area in the passenger quarter around the rear of the arch. Some is stripped and some still has some paint. I have 90% of the interior (black) in really good shape too. No front seat is all. I have owned three of these and have extras of some things. Two good doors with glass in them and the trunk lid. I don't have the hood, fenders or bumpers as I was planning to replace them all with fiberglass. All glass except the front windshield. Have the bezels and such for lights, lots of other miscellaneous stuff. I also have the 350 motor which I rebuilt at around 95K. It might have 20K on the rebuild. Has the high pressure/volume oil kit, double chain and bearings, rings, etc. all done. The heads have hardened seats (learned I didn't have to do that later), dual springs, locks and retainers from Poston along with the roller rockers ($$$) and tall valve covers. No intake or carb and the heads are off the block. Kind of rusty set of chromed headers from Poston too, but no holes and salvageable. The car is located in Ohio near Bellefontaine (NW of Columbus about an hour). I'm asking $2500 for all of it and not wanting to split it up. I have all the parts together and ready for pick up anytime. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for looking. car on trailer.jpg new rear susp.jpg Front frame.jpg

    Hi everyone,

My timetable for the move has been escalated so I’m really flexible on this. Had a few local people check it out, one who said they would show up the next day with cash but just hasn’t sold. As I don’t want to see this go to the junkyard, I’m really on the verge of begging someone to take this off my hands. I would obviously like to get something for this but at this time, I’m willing to let it go to someone who will put her back together and enjoy. Thank you for your consideration.

    Possibly interested.
What is your timeframe for having it gone?
I'm near Baltimore, MD but have truck & trailer and will travel.

Thanks for the interest guys. I replied to both your PM’s. I do have a few months for sure but with the lack of response, I wanted to get this going sooner than later. If someone gives me a firm date as to when they can come get it, I’ll post and keep this thread up to date. I will go with first come first serve. Thanks again!

Cars in it's new home. It'll be dormant for a bit while I get some things done, then it'll be on. Have a neat plan for this car, stay tuned and a new build thread (much like the "Project Rusty Hulk" thread I did) will be happening eventually. This cars gonna likes it some twisties......

And a big thanks to Erik! It was great meeting you and chatting (while loading the copious amounts of stuff that came with the car.....haha)

Believe it or not, it likely won't end up green. It'll be more than likely a bit of a wild color, not green!

Just want to say that I’m so grateful to Shawn for taking the car and just being a real stand up guy! No fear with dealing with him for certain or for anyone else in the future. Super stoked that it went to someone that will get her together again and put her to good use. I love the plan to put her on the track, be it autocross or road racing (my first love). I had a plan for it to be a monster on the track and think Shawn sees that too. Met a lot of people in my life and Shawn and his friend, who helped out so much, are good people. I think the same for so many of the people I have had the opportunity to meet in the racing and car enthusiast community. I have to admit it was a sad day for me and my family to see the car go. Shawn did make it a little easier for me knowing it was going to a true fellow enthusiast. Both Shawn and his “help” are car guys, you both are great. I instantly knew that this was the right fit for the car. When the news hit, I was instantly reminded of so many great memories in the car. It was almost like someone had passed but I didn’t see it like that. I look forward to the future that Shawn will give my baby that I owned since I was 16, (45 now). I regaled stories of this car beating BBC 454’s and Pontiac 400’s to the point that I asked if they were really racing me, I was shocked at the reaction of family members when they heard it was being sold. However, really happy that Shawn seemed genuinely excited about the project before him. I will always love the old Buicks and all of you on this forum that are great car guys for sure. Happy motoring and beat the hell out of all who opossum us!
