Doug's Headers nowhere near fitting

I bought a set of Doug's 1 7/8 primary long tubes for the cutlass, and attempted to install them yesterday. The driver side required flattening the seam on the firewall, and removing the steering shaft to get it wiggled in, but that's about it. The passenger side is a train wreck. I wasn't surprised at needing to clearance for the rearward most ear of the upper control arm, but the #5 tube dives down straight into the frame. I beat and banged and got the torch and after hours, it still needs to move over half an inch. For the tube to be perfectly round, it needs to move well over an inch inboard. Has anyone else encountered this problem? The engine is sitting on TA mounts, and I have a G Force trans cross member in the car. The manifolds sure fit perfect.

Just keep in mind those headers are intended for the 64-72 chassis even more so for the 68-72 chassis

I was operating under the impression that using the TA a body mounts they should have pretty well fit. Maybe those were the TA headers now that I think about it.

I used TA headers for a Regal build with a 455 years ago.
They required some custom tuning but nothing drastic.

Sorry, but no experience with Doug's....

Regular 455 headers a tight fit, mainly passenger side.

The 455 stage 2 for the 64-67 was almost a perfect worth no mods.

Welcome to the world of performance.
I have Dougs headers in my 70 GS.
The front 2 tubes are well massaged on drivers side.
I had engine on hoist and kept dropping down to find sweet spot to then remove and hammer.
7 tries or so I had it.
When I removed my heads to mill later I tecoatwd headers and found where they were still rubbing.
    So I massaged some more.
    Pass side was a breeze.
Performance takes more work than we would ever expect.
But I hope you results work well running the car now.
