Quadrajet adjustment issues on rebuild

I'm rebuilding a Quad that came on a '73 350 donor engine. After boiling and reassembling, I'm following the adjustment instructions that came with the carb kit, measuring all the distances and bending things to adjust. Many of these adjustments start with the position of the choke valve and/or the steps on the fast idle cam. Something seems to be wrong here as I can't get the choke to open fully vertically, and I can't get the cam follower to go to the highest step, both of which need to happen per the instructions. Here's a video I made, might make it slightly more apparent what I'm saying. Any ideas?

The choke arm finger should be under the fast idle cam. In your video it is resting on top of the cam.

Yep. Whenever I disassemble carbs with a lot of linkages, i take a bunch of pictures before hand just to make sure I put it all back together correctly.

Back cold idle screw almost all the way out, pull up on weights to close choke, gently tighten screw to about 1/2 turn past first contact. Should be good from there.

Yep, you had it, that finger was on the wrong side of the fast idle cam. I took some pictures before I took it apart, but the detail wasn't good enough in the dark spots to see that. Thanks!

Interesting, the carb kit instructions say to turn it 3 full turns past contact to start.

I suggested half just to get it to "seat" and rest on the steps. If the instructions say 3, go 3.
