1970 GS 455 auto. Brown wire connected to a white wire with a black "thing". The brown wire comes from the harness near where the flasher wires come out. The white wire appears to go in behind the fuse box. Any ideas?
I was hoping for that - but there is no "end"?? Unless the last guy just tucked the end behind the fuse panel? Doesn't seem to want to pull out though...
Pretty sure it's for the parking brake.the end will just plug into the switch.no Power it just completes the ground when you step on the brake
Does car have a tach? Looks like a tach connector but that connection is supposed to outside firewall. May have routed the wire in thru fuse box, check on the firewall to see if white wire is there or cut. I believe brake wire is a connector, not rubber.
I got brave and unplugged the two wires. The white wire must be white and tan and lights up the brake light when grounded so it must be the parking brake light. The terminal does fit the switch. So - what the heck is the brown wire? With the odd connector?
Is it a 70? Looks like the connector that should have a small fuse in it. On a 70 there is a connector like that with a fuse inside engine compartment near the voltage regulator. Maybe it got pulled inside the car? Look in engine compartment for the other half of that connector. If car came with gauges even with the Ralley clock they came with a hood tack wire but that is a taped harness that is pretty long and was taped in a figure 8 to main harness. It’s big though and pretty obvious.
It is a 70. I can't see where it would come apart, but it could have a fuse inside. It is short (6") and comes from the main harness where the flasher wires come out, above the parking brake.
