The '96 has been in storage for a couple years. It won't start. If starting fluid is sprayed into the intake, it will start, but won't stay running. A new fuel system pressure regulator has been ordered and if that doesn't work, a new fuel pump is the next part to replace. Anything else I should be looking for as the culprit?

It's been a little while since i got rid of my LT1 Caprice, I had a 94 & it had a Schrader valve up near the firewall where if you have a pressure tester you can test the fuel pressure to see if you're within specs for the fuel pump.

I've also had a few issues with the ignition coil. On the Caprice it was mounted on the drivers side front. Cheap to replace but I also fixed an intermittent running problem by fixing up the ground wires that go to the same coil. Also make sure the MAF/plug sensor is working & clean.

There is no rodent damage the car was stored with a full tank. Will have to try the listening for the fuel pump idea.
I'll have to check again, but I think there was an intermittent check engine light issue before the car was stored. Yes, the air intake hose was put back in place.
May have to borrow a pressure tester and/or code reader to figure it out. Thanks for the suggestions.

Some times all it takes is banging/slapping on the tank to wake the pump up. Do that with someone cranking the motor.
Also, sometimes the pump fuse will blow if the pump motor doesn't turn. Replace fuse and do above.

If the pump doesn’t hum it may be a bad relay or switch. It should have a test lead or jumper near the booster-run 12v to it and see if the pump runs. If you have the pump running you can put a guage on the shrader valve to verify pressure.

Changed the fuel filter and fuel pump and it started right up!

    Great news!

Pumps are a pain to change but the filter is easy at least.

The pumps in the Roadmasters are not an uncommon issue
