That's a super sweet automobile! 69's are my favorite body style for the A-body Buicks...beautiful from every angle...flowing unique classic lines...ahead of their time! I like them all but I judge the 1969 #1 in my book... Eric / Oregon
No doubt , this car is very , very nice !!!!! Is this a show only car ? To nice to drive ? Love the green !!!! Wonder what $$$$ they are looking for ?
As mentioned earlier, Phil and Pat drove this car everywhere and won about every award the car could win so I guess it depends on your dedication to upkeep whether it can be driven or not. They drove it to club events, national meets, regional meets, local cruises, local shows. I even remember them taking it to a club picnic at Moraine State Park where we had a ride and drive event where we just lined up all the cars and we all took turns driving each other’s cars around the park And Phil insisting my then 15-year-old son take his turn driving it around the park.
I was asked by 65gs76limited to post a reply for him from the current owner of the car. This was his short and sweet reply: This car has been fully restored after running into the back of the owners garage. It sat covered in there driveway for a number of years after that and before the restoration. I would hope you change your ad to reflect the information. "have the wrong car and tell me why i would change my ad ? I should take your word on this?" I also sent a note to the seller telling him he was way off base on the car and gave him the link to the thread here and suggested he sign on and read the facts about HIS car. I did not receive a reply.
I forwarded you his reply. The seller is a snake and dancing all around the truth. If you get it could you post it here for all to see. Thanks Keith.
OK, I got a reply from the seller as well "Your welcome to do what you like but it wont matter... your evidence is iunprovable and i believe, WRONG"
Apparently the seller does not know how small the Buick community really is. This car was shown Extensively and the information is readily known. I would not hesitate to purchase this car if I had the funds.
Exactly, I would buy it instantly as well if I had the extra funds, my son really wanted the car when it went for sale, but I didn't have that kind of extra money then either lol - he had a really special relationship with Phil and Pat and I wish I could make that come to fruition
I would think that somewhere in Phil's paperwork the evidence is there. I would love to go there and review the paperwork and start asking the seller questions. There is no reason to mis-represent this car, it can stand on its own merit as is.
I'll put in My .02, then Get Out. 1) I Know for a fact about the Background on this car having inspected it & seeing All the paperwork on it back sometime between o5-7, for it's Insurance Appraisal. (over 100 Photos taken in, out, around & under) 2)Keith is probably the closest to the car with his info, as I know how close Pat, Phil & He were. 3) Duane has Judged the car, & would probably stand behind me when I say that "This was the Best of the Best, but Not overly done". When Pat sold the car, it set a record for a GS350 pricing @ the sale in Raleigh. (My Brother was there to assist Her in representing it.) The car was to be Featured in Muscle Car, and the photography & article was done by Tom Shaw, but the Magazine went under (This was in 04/05) and the Article never got published. This was @ the BPG Nats. @ Quaker. The "Pedigree" on this car was Unbelievable, & I to the Best of My knowledge, has Not been matched. (AACA Gold, Senior Gold, BPG Gold, GSCA Gold, BCA, Gold) I may not remember the Correct terms, But the car was actually "Retired" from Judging as it couldn't win anything else in National Competition in it's category. (It also won I believe Best of Show @ the Arthritis Show in Columbus Ohio, as well as others.) Phil & Pat would Drive it (I believe it was only trailered 1 time to Auburn IN. for a show) to every show. I remember Phil scolding Pat for Not flipping the floor mat over on 1 trip to Norwalk. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. Phil kept about Everything from the car when it was restored. Damaged Sheet metal, spares, if it was replaced, the original was kept, until the car was sold, then any & all "Spares etc." were sold. JR
Can it be said what it sold for ? Obviously the new owner ( dealer ) is going to mark it up even higher . As said , the car is well known , received about every award it could, if I were able to obtain this car , it would be for nice drives/cruise nights/car shows to enjoy life with it and re capture the experience of how it was when new.
Here would be around 2004 at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, I had the red Centurion, you can see Phil & Pat in the one picture. You can also see the pinstripes on the trunk lid in this picture
The one thing I noticed on in the current for sale photos is that the drivers side hood sticks up a little in the back like the hinge is going bad but from one of the older photos it looks the same so it may be an optical illusion?
It Say's it received a frame-off restoration in 1997. Are you guy's sure abut that time line? . I took several photo's of it at the May 1996 Nat's.
