Looks like a great project to me. https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/d/68-buick-riviera-project-car/6671393947.html
I don't know myself, buddy. I figure its an air tank maybe. How'd that '65 you found a few weeks ago turn out?
I forgot how to turn this thing on LOL! We had to recuperate for a few days post trip, then went wine tasting a mile from the Riv... Stopped and spoke to the owner and grabbed some pics for ya. He wants $5K for it! Says the title is worth that. Supposedly has a fresh never run (25 miles or so?) fresh motor and trans. Its a 425 dual quad and no air. Not a deal breaker but the seat falling through the floor and rotten frame was the death nell. Still on the prowl as always. Gonna start a big new thred for ya; went to a pretty big car show Sunday with lotsa FOMOCO stuff. Gotta get started after dinner maybe. Sister is coming in for a few days and the got lost between Chicago and here. Figures... both have PHD's! Pics to follow... ws
Dont know either but I do know its not supposed to be there. looks to be some sort of a vac pump and storage tank combo
Its an air compressor. Yes it was an option Briz believe it or not. They had factory rear air shocks with a level sensor. Had a 67 Eldorado with it. Very uncommon on Riv. First 2nd gen I ever saw it on. Neato! Interestingly it looks like car has the larger A/C compressor pulley which was commonly seen on GS cars with the 3.42 axle. Perhaps someone ordered this car with towing in mind.
