I didn't win the MegaMillions jackpot last night, so I'm out. But then neither did anyone else so maybe next drawing.

3.42 rear gear without a/c? Does that look like an 8.5 to anyone?

Looks like a 8.2 to me. I don't believe 3:42 is the correct gear for a non air stage1 it should be a 3:64 unless they special ordered the car.

Could be the dealer is wrong on the axle ratio.

The sloan docs and window sticker show it had AC from the factory so, 3.42 is correct. Why in H--- would anyone do a concourse resto on an A/C car like a GSX and remove all traces of the A/C inside and out? Crazy IMO.

The fire walls are completely different between the two. You would have to graft in a fire wall, and change out the interior side as well. Lots of work. maybe a re bodied?

I suspect you are correct about a re-body. The firewall is definitely a non-AC and the generator adjustment bracket has the hole at the end for the original AC top bracket.

So, does this mean that someone took the body and VIN tags from the original body and relocated them onto the replacement body? This seems pretty deceptive. Is it legal?

Someone could be burnt big time. Hopefully dealer doesn't know and is not trying to recoup his loss. Anyone question the dealer on this ?

In response to rkammer is it legal. YES BUT a few steps must be followed. A number of years ago I did some research on a rebodied car. Ownership of both vehicles has to be proven. Doesn't matter if you or your dad bought the X new off the showroom floor and you have all paperwork .They are concerned that the donor body is not stolen . The hulk and paperwork must be inspected before the tags are cut off by police and DMV. Some select DMV locations may have an officer there . Once the car is completed it must be certified / safety inspected. Once that is done a new serial # will be issued to the car. And NO , it will not be an X serial #.
This may have changed over time or with your state. If this X has been rebodied without these steps it could be impounded / seized. They assume it stolen unless proved otherwise.

Sloan??? Why would Sloan have docs on a GSX??? GSX's were a mid-year introduction and I thought Sloan's records end (for MY '70) before the GSX's started production.

It appears that I have confused this ebay GSX with another GS I was looking at. This one has the Sloan docs but, NOT an original window sticker. The Sloan doc shows that this GSX was delivered without the A/C option. So, the thoughts of a re-body are not valid but, instead it looks like the 3.42 rear might have been installed in place of the original 3.64. Sorry for the oversight, guys.

I have a copy of docs from Wayne Roberts for a GSX I once owned that was built on 4/15/70.

We also have documents from Wayne for Sandys X built end of April.

Exactly. Wayne Roberts has the 2nd half of model year 1970 Buick production data, not Sloan.

Jut for the record, all alternator adjustment brackets have the hole regardless of AC or not
