So when going to heavy throttle from stop or slow roll, occasionally I have experienced a stumble or maybe a popping through carb. Cold intake? (performer with crossover plugged), to much pump shot?, not enough? Carb. rebuilt with parts from Cliff's H.P.Qjets. Carb. specs. : #17056540, #73 jets and matching metering rods from Cliff, float level 3/8", fuel inlet .135, idle tube .038, down channel .059, acc. pump holes .031, idle air bleeds U .060 L .080, main air bleeds, air horn .060 main body .046, mixture screws .094, bypass air .109. Engine specs.( less than 1000 miles on engine since freshening last year) : 462 Buick, T/A heads, block has been decked to "0", 288/294h cam, 230/240 at .050 114 c/l, performer intake, long tube headers, small body msd conversion dist. 16* at idle, 35*total. Make sure your POE (pull over enrichment) well passages are clean and allow fuel to enter, and you have good flow. Sounds like you have modified every other point but that, or at least didn’t list it.
Is it possible to swap a known good carb? During the rebuild was the airhorn checked for warping? Just shotgunning, ignition related, cracked spark plug, also water in the dist. cap?
Thanks for the tips guys, Larry I did check the secondary spring wind up, seemed a little loose so set it at 3/4 turn. Mark I did modify the POE, well .036, tubes .036, discharge hole .055, I also added small notches to air flaps per Cliff's book. Shiftbyear, the air horn is in good shape, ignition is in good shape. Ill continue to tune this new combination, also I am now in Reno Nv. (4500 ft.) so this will be something ill have to consider.
