Ground cable wiring

I am wrapping up the under hood electrical up grade and I have a question on the ground cable. My understanding is the cable itself wires to the the engine block. I have been told it goes to a bolt on the compressor bracket or to a bolt on the engine block itself. Which one and where? Also, the wire goes to the fender. How is it attached and do you use the holes right by the battery terminal?

    It's for a 71 Skylark 350.

    Thanks,

    Lou

Just pulled my engine. Ground cable was attached with A/C bracket and again on fender firewall using a tapered type screw. Also there was a copper flat type strap off back of block to firewall

Thanks. I had a flash and decided to try the assembly manual (OK so I'm a little slow) It shows the connection on the block to the alternator bracket bolt. Then it all came back to me (really slow). It also shoed the connection to the fender. Sometimes I just amaze my self.

I shouldbe able to wrap it up in a few days as soon as I get the new battery.

There's 3 bolts that hold the AC or just the alternator bracket.Looking at them from the front,it will be the one on the left bottom. The positive is the one that goes into the bracket just under the passenger side motor mount.Bruno.

Thanks, Bruno. Helpful, will probably save a busted knuckle or two.
