My daughter bent my cooling fan, I somewhat straightened it,but don't know if I should use it or not.I'm afraid in may be out of balance, and tear my new water pump up.What do ya think .
My dad looked at it this evening, he said it should be ok.I was afraid it would be out of balance .I helped it A lot by hammering it on the H beam and sighting for straightness.
How'd it get bent? Your daughter run over it with her car? That's pretty heavy gauge steel, if your referring to center section. Bolt it up and maybe tweek it some, maybe using a 12" crescent wrench. You should get it almost perfect.
I was going to wire brush it and paint it,she asked me could she help only 10 years old.I said ya ,and gave her the wire brush. I went to do something else ,and heard A beating noise .I went A looked ,she was beating it edge ways down on A piece of plywood .I asked her what are you doing, she said knocking the dirt off of it.Man I was very mad ,but later cooled down ,I thought it was my fault, I should have explained A little better.
She bent two fan blades pretty good.I bent them back, and this evening put it on A flat peace of steel and taped with A hammer.
I drove with a bent fan for years and I never bent it back out of ignorance. My shop professor seen it and said the balance can be thrown off, made alot of sense when he explained it. I was in a accident and I replaced all my grill, radiator (that's what bent the fan) fenders and hood. Had it looking new again.
And he said bending it back would make it weaker too, but like I said I ran it for years and it was a big bend
Hey, at least she wanted to help. We need the younger folks learning about our cars and carrying on our passions.... or we'll all be buried in them.
She's like me ,likes working with her hands.I got A feeling she's going to be into old cars.My son really likes my 54 Belair, so I told him when he gets older I was going to give it to him.He is 8 years old ,we was watching A movie Sunday night ,He said look daddy there's A car like mine .It was A 54 Chevy ,I told him he had A good eye .
