IMG_1300.JPG It took me a ton of time without my shop I use to work out of but with patience and a LOT of MOXY you too can be a Highway Star ("half past 4 an shiftin gears"!!!) with a handsome repaired factory Buick consolette! So FEAR NOT!(wow, paint fumes are gittin RUFF in here! Lol!!!)
I will spare you the pain staking detail to restore the factory pattern in the consolette top (was blurry eyed after many loooooooong evenings on just that and MULTIPLE touch ups).
Back to the original topic though. Fragile studs were broken off, someone busted out a drill back in the 1970's and just drilled holes for bolts to hold your boot & two factory rings and called it "Gud"!.
The holes were already drilled in mine when I got it so no option to simply epoxy them technically as depressions on top would still need to be addressed.
I always thinks "too much is just enuff" anyway and there is nothing better to me then threaded studs mounted into the consolette itself. Based on the hole size in my consolette I used a 6-30 tap.I was able to get 3 nice threads in the consolette top which is more than enough with some Loctite or "all steel"to make sure the studs stay in place.

Anyhow I will just post some pictures for anybody who cares to make a run at doing this repair. I "got nothing but time" if you want to tempt me into repairing yours if you don't have the patience (had to "walk away" from mine several days but love the end result!)
So here are some pics, feel free to PM me if you have questions and always remember my cardboard sign .......
    "Will work for Buick parts!":D

IMG_1639.JPG IMG_1632.JPG IMG_1637.JPG okay still a royal pain to post pictures but more to come.
Main thing on my consulate was the holes the previous owner drilled in it did not correspond with where the factory studs were. Therefore those (factory stud foot prints) had to be ground down flush JUST leaving a circle where they were from the factory & then center punched and precisely drilled in the center then I used my factory chrome consolette ring as a template to ensure everything was in its correct spot . More pics to come

Still not 100% happy because I know little places to look! Lol : P
