I have the four peak molding pieces for my 70 Skylark. I will be mounting the 2 sport mirrors to determine position of the two door pieces. What I need is the mounting "pegs" which I believe are screwed onto the door, I may mig them from the reverse/interior of the door to positively anchor them . Also need the plastic inserts that afix the door moldings to the "pegs".
The two quarter window molding pieces came with hardware that pops into drilled holes in the quarter just below quarter windows. Would rather use new hardware, but I will use the old ones if needed.
What I am looking for is the screw-in "pegs" for the two door moldings and thier respective plastic inserts.
Also would like to replace quarter window molding hardware if possible. Appreciate help from anyone who has done this ...links to new hardware.... tips etc.... ??? Ty Jim/Rott

I'm surprised nobody's answered this! It's kind of a rare option, I guess. Truth is...I don't know about this for sure. My 69 442 has similar peak moldings. I'm not positive, but I think that windshield reveal replacement studs are what you use to attach them. They screw in with a Phillips and you clip the mldgs to them. You can buy weld types, you can use a weld nail gun to do them. They are all over ebay, I posted a link a few weeks ago here for somebody else. Look in the Fusick catalog online. they carry the clips for the curved and straight moldings...look at 68-69 442 stuff. I assume those clips on the door mldgs you show are wrong?

The hardware on the quarter window moldings are the ones pictured (last 2 pics), I'm fairly sure they are original hardware. Thanks for the lead on the windshield pegs. Will look into that, ty..

I found a source for the replacement studs/ pegs, and the plastic clip-on hardware. No luck with the quarter panel molding hardware as pictured, may clean em up , epoxy em and use em...thanks for the reply......Jim

I got mine from an auto body supply store. I believe the holes were 5/16" ....were much bigger than I had thought they'd be. Could be 1/4 but I don't remember. It was painful to drill holes in my freshly painted car!

    Looking at autofastco.net
I am also looking for the plastic inserts for
mounting door moldings to pegs/studs. Very confusing, been sitting here with a tape measure and getting frustrated. Anyone have the correct part numbers for these:

Exactly why I am hoping to square this away before finish paint, still in primer .
I'll drill 1/4" holes in an unusable fender I have kicking round and do a test fit ...thanks for a starting point..

    I'll take a look, ty....

    Thanks for the replies....
Also looking for windshield and rear window molding clips.

So many to choose from , don't want to order a 50 bag of unusable clips. Any help is greatly appreciated, as always. Jim

My car has this option and IIRC, there was a thread on this & I had saved this link - Not sure if it was for this molding, but I think so. It comes in a pack of 50, but if it's correct, I'd take some or maybe Todd would want to get into selling them along with all his hardware.

    Looks correct,
I just found one of these still clicked into one of the peak molding door pieces. Lucky! Measures same as the one in Dano's link. Black ones are incorrect, they are for body protection moldings. Thanks Dano!

These are the metal fasteners used on the quarter panel peak molding pieces. I can reuse, but would prefer new.

I didn't get a chance to go through all their offerings - Could be some other useful stuff in there. I'd hate to take the molding off my car without having all the stuff to put it back. Please post if you find the correct ones for the quarters and if you want to split a bag of the ones in my link.

I pulled the trigger on the replacement pegs/studs , the plastic inserts (item you linked to) and after some measuring, windshield clips. I'll post here when I get them...if all is well, just lemme know how many you need Dano. Jim

Looking thru the AutoFastCo.net site I found out you can mail them a fastener and they will determine if it is available .
May take that route with the hardware pictured above. JIM

Ok, got the goods from AutoFastCo.net.
The link to their product which Dano provided is indeed the correct plastic fastener to install peak moldings to the doors.
Now for the peak molding quarter window hardware . I have enough old metal clips to mount my quarter window peak moldings, but I would prefer new, so I will be mailing a sample to AutoFastCo.net and will wait to hear back from them before drilling any holes in my quarter panels. Stay tuned. ......Jim

My silver car has these, and I would rather have them gone on that particular car,but it is already painted. I might need to find those 1/4 trim clips too. I found a supplier for the studs, and purchased a few packs for a different project. Mine are all intact on that car.

    Update :
Has been a busy summer, haven't been able to get in the garage as much as I would like. Getting ready to pull doors, so I went ahead, drilled holes ( 1/16" bit) and mounted my driver door peak molding using a combination of old clips and new ones from Autofastco. The new clips do not have the lil wings which boost the molding off the door surface for a nice tight fit. Too sloppy, where affixed with new clips , nice, nice where affixed with old clips. Be nice,if someone had 15 or so of the old clips so I could put this to bed.
So the search continues. Dano, you need screws/pegs, lemme know, gutta 50 bag.
