I'm new to forum - just bought a 65 Sport Wagon from the son of original owner, in storage since 1992. It's at least running now and should be ready for the road in a few weeks. I'll probably keep it fairly stock for now, but would love to add rally wheels, maybe 15x7. Any suggestions for wheels? I checked with Wheel Vintiques but they are on back order 3 months out.
    Thanks JB

Cool, got anymore pictures you can post?

Man I love the '64 and '65 Skylarks!

And you just don't see a lot of wagons around here.

    What color is that?

Dear JB, Derek, and V-8 Buick longroof fans,

Congratulations! Always glad to have another 1965 Buick wagon saved! :)

There is at least one other manufacturer of Buick rally wheels. Caruso Performance:

    http://www.carusoperformance.com/

However, they are substantially more expensive than you can pick up the Wheel Vintiques wheels. You might want to be patient and save yourself some dough. Perhaps someone else knows of another source?

    Again welcome!

    Cheers, Edouard

Check area junkyards. Those 15 x 7 wheels were used into the 1980's.
Congrats on the cool find and welcome to the forum!

Thanks everyone! Lots of great rigs here! Caruso is a great find. I looked quite a bit and had not come across them. I'm hoping to make it to the Puyallup show. The wagon is brown with white top. I may have found some 14x7 rallys from a 64 Skylark in Canada, which look like they could work.

Last night I picked up some reconditioned 15x7 rally wheels at www.akhwheels.com Terry, owner, is a great guy as was very helpful - located in Ellensburg, WA. Based on codes on rims, it looks like 4-3/8 back spacing, which is what he told me and I think that will work for most tire sizes on this rig, but not 100% sure. It looks like they will work for disc brakes as well if I ever upgrade. Question now is tire size. I was thinking 235/60/15 rear and 215/65/15 front? - maybe Cooper as they are a little less than the BFGs? I may go with black side wall - I kind of like that look. What do you all think on tire size? Should I post this in a different area or under a different heading? I'll get some pictures uploaded. Thanks!

Dear Baderkid and V-8 Buick longroof fans,

Congratulations on finding some rally wheels! As long as you don't go with too aggressive tires the backspacing should be okay.

I think that is conservative. You can go bigger if you want. I have some values in mind for my trusty wagon, but that has been stalled by other priorities and I don't remember what was the final values. I'm going to go with Diamond Back white walls:

    http://www.dbtires.com/

You can get BF Goodrich Radial T/As in a whitewall if you want them. So if you really want to be period correct - it is possible.

Best of luck with your wagon!

    Cheers, Edouard

Baderkid, I've got 215/70 x 15 WW on 15 x 7 Buick road wheels on my '65 Sportwagon, and they look perfect.
