IMG_0924.JPG I'm getting ready to convert my 72 to a manual rack. I've been researching this for awhile, and I ended up getting the Auto Fab kit,for $900.00 shipped, it comes with a Flaming River rack, and all the needed joints and hardware. I will not be using the steering arms because I have B-body spindles, with integrated steering arms. I will either drill straight holes in the ends of the arms,or get the spherical joints with the tapered studs.

    Brian,

I also have the B spindle swap. I spoke with Auto Fab and they said the kit would not work because of the built in steering arms on the spindle. You mentioned how you are going to get around it. Can you share more on that? I want to go the rack route if at all possible. Thanks!

I'd did some checking with my cars yesterday. I compared the length of the steering arms on the stock A-body spindles, with the arms on the B-body spindles. I simply measured from the lower ball joint to the out tie rod hole. The B-body spindles are 1/2" longer, which is good for the manual rack install. I'll keep you posted when I start mocking it up.
