    Hey guys,

my thermostat housing is leaking very bad. Seems to be the O-ring sealing between the thermostat housing and water pump. Since I want to buy that part over here I need the exact specs of inner diameter and ring thickness. Could someone fill me up in these specs, please?

All other seals and new thermostat is already here.

Got some specs from a german car guy over here. Must be around 17 mm inner diameter and 6 mm ring thickness.

    I just saw this Jan-
I always stack 2 of the o rings to seal that area. Usually there is some degradation of the metal in the ID where these O rings seat, I need to squish the 2 in there to make a seal.

Its a 3/16" cross section and .662 ID oring. Which makes it a #313.

    Jan,

I gooped a bunch of JB Weld into the timing cover where the crossover goes in. It was pretty corroded in there.
cleaned it up with a Dremel and sanding bit. No more leaks.

Thank you for the added information, guys. I will take a look at everything on saturday. Had a combination of the o ring and some liquid sealing already in mind. Lets see how far gone the corrosion is.

    Hey guys,
I pulled the water manifold out on Saturday. What a p.i.t.a. on a car with power steering and AC. Had to remove a lot of stuff to get that thing out. The old O-Ring was more dust than rubber. No wonder that the car was peeing coolant. Now I will start cleaning everything and then reassemble it with new seals.

Could someone gimme the right length of all driving belts. The both for the AC Compressor seem to be to short. I would like to change all three of the belts while reassembling everything.

I have a ton of them. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a few. Be sure that the area is clean and install two - one on top of the other. It's a bit of a PIA to do, but it will never leak again.

Since my Girlfriend is on holiday in Austria I'm free to drive to the shop outside of town after work. Yesterday I cleaned up everything around the water manifold and pump. Today I will clean all removed parts in the part washer at work. Maybe I can reassemble everything tomorrow evening. I'll keep you guys updated.

Those are the belts for AC and Generator. They are to short. Does someone have the correct length?

That's the on for power steering pump. It fits right.

John, big thanks for your offer. I'm living in germany. Costs for sending something overseas are a bit to pricey. I can get everything I'll need over here, I hope. And the O-Rings are already at the shop if I catched the right ones.

Rockauto lists part numbers and usually dimensions.

Took a look at rockauto.com this morning. The listed parts are not specific enough to get the correct one for generator plus AC and fan. Maybe it's because of the translation in german on their side. I googled at dayco.com and found out that I'll need the Dayco Top Cog 15620 for generator and AC and not the 15610 I have right now. I bet the 15620 is a bit longer. Effective Length is 62 inches and top width is 0.44. The other belt I have for the steering pump is the correct one. Dayco partnumber is 15555 with a eff. length of 55,5 and same top width like the other one. Maybe the specs will help someone here in the future. My car is a 1965 Wildcat 401 (AC and power steering).
Now I'll check the options to get a belt in the correct length over here.

The 15610 is 56.1" long & the 15620 is 56.2" long. You should be able to get them on as 1/10th. of an inch is not a lot.

Actually the 15610 is 61" long and the 15620 is 62" long so it should make a difference.

Had some time to make progress last weekend. Because of a car crash with my daily ride I had trouble getting the daily back on the road the last weeks. Now back to the nailhead. I cleaned everything properly and cutted the seals I did not have from Elring sealing paper. First I tried to mount everything up with two o-rings but it was not possible. The water manifold was sitting to high to bolt it up in place then. So I used a lot of Dirko silicone sealant mounting everything. No it will dry out till the next weekend and then I'm going to mount the power steering pump and generator back in place. Hopefully it will not leak anymore when I'm done.
