Most of you probably remember when I posted this, it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. Please stay safe guys!
A week ago today I received a phone call from my Son Darren, who was having a very hard time talking. He called to tell me that there had been a terrible accident, a car fell on his Son Devin, my Grandson. Devin was 33 years old less than a week from his 34th birthday. Devin leaves behind 3 children 15, 8, and 5 years of age. We left home for Tacoma to be with Darren and family hoping we could comfort them and find a little comfort by being there for them. My main reason for sharing this tragedy with everybody is to hopefully encourage all to stay safe. Devin is gone because he didn't take time to properly support the car he was working on, he was in a hurry and it was a little quick fix. Now he didn't do anything I haven't done and I'm sure a lot of others have gone under a car that we shouldn't have been under. Sadly there can be that one time that the car is going to fall, it just isn't worth gambling the rest of your life for that little blip of time you might save by not making sure it's not going to fall...……..God Bless you all and be careful!

I'm so sorry for your loss. But your absolutely right. It just takes that one time for things to not go well when you take chances.

Yeah, they are very strong if you put them the way they were designed to sit, but not very strong if you put them on their side. Nevertheless, I always use a board on top to distribute the weight more evenly and not scratch the underside of the car.

I've got some MTD & HF 6 ton but they are old.
I guess IF they are not the ones in question, check the pawl engagenent and use them safely on stable surfaces.
Keep the 3 ton hyd. jack underneath too for extra assurance.
    Be overly safe.

Correct Larry, sorry was late at night & didn’t proof read it before posting to get the word (okay wrong word) out fast.
In fairness though their floor jacks work GREAT!

Years ago .. I was about to leave the garage and remembered I had to tighten a fitting on my trans line that I noticed was dripping slightly. I put the floor jack under the front lifting point and was just about to go under for the 15 sec. tightening job when my two brain cells rubbed together and said "Hey stupid .. get the jack stand, its right over there ->" ..

.. as I turned my back and walked away from the car WHAM !!! the car spit the incorrectly placed jack out !! I literally sat there for a half hour freaking out about how I had almost crawled under there and the consequences.

rmstg2 .. my heart goes out to you and your family

A “just checking my brakes that started making noise yesterday “ turns into expensive body work.
