There are certain things I won't buy from HF. This reinforces that belief.

Got a pile of these covered in rust and no stickers. Wonder if some may be those. Always thought these jack stands were a little dicey so I always put a couple concrete blocks under the car just to be extra safe.

Even with american jack stands I would never go under the car without my hydraulic jack for a back up.

Use an inflated tire & rim assembly as a back-up

"disengage from the extension lifting post" under a shift in weight, causing them to suddenly collapse. "

Anyone else see the obvious in the statement?

What's more, if you are stupid enough to rely on one jack stand with no safety then you are smart enough to accept the risk. Be sure to have a will on record.

OK, those are Jack Stands, not Jacks.

I wonder how Hazard Frought found out they had a problem? Guys with funny shaped heads or missing limbs asking for a refund? Their widows?

Don't trust concrete blocks, they're very brittle, and actually don't take much to break apart.

I use pieces of 6x6's whenever possible personally. No chance of wood collapsing and no marks on the chassis

That all depends on which way you set them, huge difference and most people don't even realize that.

Or you can use the SOLID cinder blocks but you also get a Hernia lifting them .

Yup. Concrete is very strong in compression but weak in tension. If you're using cinder blocks, the holes in the block MUST face the ground. That way none of the concrete can wind up in tension.

If the holes are parallel to the ground, the wall of the hole could wind up in tension when you put load on it. Think of bending a bar in a U shape by pressing in the middle while you hold the ends still. The inside of the U is in compression, the outside will be in tension. The tension part will crack quickly with concrete.

Now if you just drop the car on even a correctly placed cinder block it can still break. But I'm pretty sure nobody here is willy-nilly loosening their jack so the car drops uncontrolled. :D
