    In this pic you see on the right side, the yellow and red arrows pointing to an opening. When I start the car after it has sat for some time (WEEKS) that little opening you can see rad fluid bubble in it just a little and to date it has not dripped anything after the car has been running or during. If I drive it more often this winter it does not do it at all. Can I put some sealant in it to seal it up? That pump this past summer so it has not been driven much.

    That looks like the alignment dowel. That would make the leak most likely the gasket for water pump. Sealer on it may help for now if if it’s clean and dry but replacement of gasket would really be needed.

    I thought I could put sealant into the hole, something like you would put on a gasket.. This darn pump was just put on the car. Upsets me it is leaking even so little. I mean a few air bubbles then it goes away. Does not leak at all once car is at running temp.

    You can try to snug the bolts down. Suggest a torque wrench. Make them even . Just alitttle tighter then torque specs.

    The thing with leaks is that they seldom get better. Get a new gasket and a big ole piece of cardboard to protect the radiator and get to it. Just my 2 cents, which won't buy ya nuttin no more....

    Pull the engine instead, as long as your that far replacing the water pump gasket, stuff a roller cam in it, Pizza Hut take out rods, forged pistons, aluminum heads, headers, gears in the rear, hi-stall convertor, may as well pull the trans. too for a rebuild:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p
    Run your credit card to the limit, REMEMBER this is suppose to be fun!

    While the engine’s out you might as well detail the engine bay. Maybe pull the front clip so you have better access. Do the front suspension. Maybe pull the body off the frame so you can really get to it, too. If you have the clip and body off you might as well pull the interior and glass. No better time to replate the bumpers. If you’ve ever wanted to paint it, might as well while it’s apart...

    Maaaan, thanks for chiming in Patrick, I forgot all of that:p:p:p:p:p:p
    Also probably a good idea to get another credit card, don't worry about falling behind on the payments, remember theres radio commercials saying you don't have to pay it all back, its a secret the credit card companies don't want you to know about;););)
    And HAVE FUN:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

    You can try the 10 Dollar fix 10 minute fix.
    Get a can of brakeclean and spray out the hole really well then let the dry out, or blow it dry with air if you have such, then use whatever color form- a- gasket you want and fill that up and let it set up for 2 days, next cut off any pertruding excess with a blade and drive it to see if your golden or not.

    Anyway like noted here I did tighten down the bolts holding the WP when I first saw this end of last summer. I mean this is not even a dribble of fluid, just some air bubbling for a few min at cold start then nothing. No leaks after it is hot and parked. During the summer when it got driven more it stopped after I tightened down the WP bolt a hair. I know I will prob be replacing the gasket but thought cleaning out the hole and putting some gasket seal in it may do the trick short term.

    I just did that post drive check, everything is nice and dry, no wet spots on ground under it. Looked at bottom of motor etc no fluids hanging on ready to drip off the car.

    Well I'm glad the leak subsided, at least til it can be addressed later.

    Is that a small block thing?

    Are you sure the dowel is still there?

    I did not install this pump, all came from TA perf. My shop installed it all. So there is a dowel pin that goes into that hole that pops out some bubbles on me? Can I just put a dowel in it?? The pump is not leaking from anywhere else. As written here I figured cleaning and letting it dry out and putting sealing into the whole would do it.

    Just thinking outside the box. If for some reason, that dowel pin is missing (sheared off or fallen out), that area of the gasket would be unsupported, and that might lead to a leak.
