I'm pretty sure this is "the barber's car" that was discussed on FB? Price was either $12,500 or $15,000?

Thank goodness the area around that door lock was protected and preserved!

I doubt that driver's door issue is purely hinge related. It's either been Dukes of Hazard jumped or has one serious case of saggy frame.

Thanks for posting Brian. Got a link George?

yep, the car that was for sale multiple times on FB. At that time it was only about a hour from me here in middle TN.

It’s now shown to be in NC so I’m guessing one of these is true: someone bought it to restore and decided it was too big of a project to justify or it was simply purchased by someone with the intention to flip it for a profit.

Either way, I’m glad it’s no longer languishing in the poor storage in TN and might have a chance to be saved now. It would be a beautiful car.

If I ended up with that car, I think I'd get it streetable and drive the piss out of it until I had a chance to restore it properly. But I am concerned the seller might be looking for high teens $ or even in the 20's.

One thing's for sure...if they gave you the car for free, you couldn't make any money on it if you gave it to somebody to restore. That car is only worth restoring to somebody who can do the work on their own. Even then...I don't know...there's a ton of labor there in the bodywork.

Brian, et al... My FB account isn't working currently. However, I will post a link when it does. One of our most esteemed collectors (Adam knows who- LOL) whet and looked at this car. He has dragged home MANY rotted/rusted/left for dead Buicks and I can say walked (or RAN) away from this car (!!!) We had a conversation about it and I recall "so much rust that even you, a Masshole, would call this car a rot box". He said if it were $5000, he may have made an offer.... What ever that's worth...

There is a picture of it on a lift so the frame cant be too bad. Undoubtedly it'll need metal work but the third pedal makes it worth it.

I'd part it out of it's misery then scrap yard the remaining rust heap.

I agree, if not the frame something aint't right... the hood looks bent up or something and the whole thing is out if whack....

It’s all a matter of perspective. Many cars in much worse condition than this car have been saved here. This car is not beyond the point of being able to be restored, but it is beyond the point of it making good financial sense. Many people that have restored any car, especially a Buick, often spend more than the final product is worth. If it’s a car you plan to keep and enjoy it might still be worth it.

An even worse financial move is building a Buick into a race car. That’s simply flushing money right down the toilet.

Hobbies cost money. Toys cost money. I’ve never considered owning one of these cars a money making proposition.

Looks like the hinge was frozen and the forced hood closed and kinked it.
Was a common problem on gtos.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

Dave Tumas and I went and looked at the car last week. Its rough for sure and not an easy restoration. It would be a very cool car when done but I think it will take a lot or time and money to restore it. Sadly its not a numbers matching car either.

Interesting?? Could you elaborate on that a bit please? I have no idea what "the barbers car" means as I don't have Facebook or any other social media crap other that car forums.
