I’m considering replacing the seat covers on my ‘74 LeSabre convertible. It has red vinyl. So far, SMS seems to be the only source, and their website is pretty useless. Are there any other sources?
Try submitting an email to SMS via their website. They sent me a sample for my top and prices for bulk material and pre-made top. Cha-Ching and then CHA-CHING!!!
Did you check with a reputable upholsterer? Those that have been in the business for a while can often find what you need. A lot of vinyls are still available unlike vintage cloth
I was quoted $78 per yard for the vinyl in my '74 LeSabre. I don't know how many yards it would take to do both front and rear bench seats. Then there's the labor on top of that.
Figure on 10-12 yards and maybe an extra one to have. Never cheap out when doing an interior, you see so many nice cars that have had new interiors that were the wrong color, wrong pattern or just poorly done, f the overall car is nice, that will kill it's value
My interior is a bit faded, but no rips or tears. I'm leaning towards just leaving it alone. I subscribe to the "It's only original once" school of thought.
Hoo boy, that is CHING per yard. Are they the only game in town for the original material (not up to ‘72)?
