I am interested in purchasing a complete, no resto needed Real Buick Skylark GS Stage 1 455. Would be giving up my mint 1970 Chevelle SS 396 but heck I like being the oddball in the crowd. Feel free to PM me. Please, I am only interested in something that needs NO work!

Does it have to be a real Stage 1 or a GS-455 with Stage 1 emblems?

Good observation and my bad, looking for a real GS 455 Stage 1 with AC. Not looking to get rid of my Chevelle SS for a clone at this point.

Isn't a 396 SS Chevelle closer to a GS 455 than a Stage 1? Seems like the SS454 would be like the Stage 1....... Quite the step up from the SS396 to a Stage 1. :)

Bought my 396 because its numbers matching, mint and has the original build sheet.
Would not let it go for something not in the same shape or of value.

You'd think so but people are still fawning over the 396/454 Chevelles.:rolleyes:

Almost any basically 50 year old car is bound to have a few areas in need unless it was restored "yesterday". Mine was gone through about ten years ago. So this conversation reminds me of my car. 70GS Stage1 from the factory. Many replaced parts, drag raced for a time as it deserved to be. Probably faster in the 1/4 than an LS6 Chevelle but less loved by the masses then and now. Hence, not six figures as is it's Chevrolet SS454 cousins at the auctions. But it's very nice to see someone who is interested in upgrading to the GS from the Chevelle. Just a warning though, when you take it to the car shows, someone is bound to say "Nice Chevelle!". AArgh..

I don’t think anyone will trade you.
I do love me a 70 Chevelle as I have one too.
But it’ll cost some coin probably 20k or so to get in the stage 1 game.
If your car is as clean and correct w paper pedigree it should get you close. But still need some coin. For a similar equipped clean one.

    Well of course they are.
    Great looking cars.
Only problem is to many clones/tributes.

Are you looking for an automatic or 4 speed?

    They're everywhere.

Real SS's are not everywhere as I have seen mostly clones at various car shows and the 396 is actually rarer that the 455 from what I have seen. Passed over a Stage 1 years ago which is why I am considering one now. Even if I lowered my expectations to a mint GS 455 or Stage 1 clone I have yet to see one. If someone has something I may be interested in feel free to PM me. I actually found my SS while looking at GS's that were supposed to be near mint but needed lots of money to complete. Just think the Buick is a better optioned car but it does not command the value it deserves. I cannot explain the Chevelle value which is great but I can say Chevy parts are cheaper because there are more of them!

Which 396 or rarer 396/375? Yes it would be in 70.
But need documents. All 69-70 do.
396/350 are well represented. And great cars overall.
I have one myself. Fantastic looking cars in 1 year trim.
71-2 similar but I like 4 headlights 2 taillights myself.

70 GS are beautiful and I think look better w vinyl top on lighter colored cars.
