The cheap ones are just that. Just enough to make a 9”. If you put any serious power to it,you will break something. If you are going to go aftermarket, get a Moser 12-bolt,or a Strange DANA60.

No, I don't think so. Identify the rear you just bought in your other thread. Post pictures of the rear cover, in the other thread, not here.

MAtt, What is it your trying to do? Just get the car running with posi?
Where are you taking the car? how are you driving it? Freeway ? street light to light?

How much power are you going to throw at it?

That rear is NOT a 2.93 ratio as CHEVY never had that ratio in a 8.2 rear. so it will be a 2.73 or a 3.08 or 3.36 something like that.
Look at the edge of the ring gear and give us the number from it.

Jim, yes just get it running. It's just going to be a cruiser, some highway driving. I was thinking either 3.23 or 3.43 gears. Should be right around 400hp. Im still looking for a rear i haven't bought one yet.

Ok, Thought you might be building the chevy rear. Plenty or parts for that rear if your not looking for original equipment.
Do not get an original 68-70 at this time as there are no gears being made yet... and they are VERY expensive at 550-600.00 a set
ALWAYS get picture and ratio of the rear you buy. You have to know what your getting so you can do some homework to see what is available for the rear. Sounds like your not going to need to HD of a rear. BUT even a small motor can destroy parts if driven crazy like. :) Jim
