Hey guys, I have a 72er 350 with the stock 2 barrel. I'm thinking of replace it with the intake manifold from TA performane and a Edelbrock 600. http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1235P Does it really increase the performance? Does somebody has experience with this combination? Is the fuel consumption increasing? Thank you in advance!
I have a cast iron manifold and carb in the parts for sale threads. I am told that there is not much if any noticeable power increase between the factory and TA intake. I cant say from personal experience but there are threads with comparison tests in these forums.
I don't think you'll see a performance increase, but you will lose weight over the front end. You might be able to find a stock iron 4bbl intake for cheaper. Try posting in "Parts Wanted". I think you would be much better off having one of the guys (techg8, carmantx) on V8 build you a custom calibrated Quadrajet. http://www.everyday-performance.com/ http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?forums/everyday-performance-llc.172/ https://quadrajetpower.com/ The Quadrajet was a 750 CFM carburetor and much better than an Edelbrock 600.
The quadrajet for the 350 will be closer to your needs, the edelbrock carb is universal, so you would need to change jets and metering rods to get it to improve performance, or you can end up loosing performance , mpg. The 4 barrel has more travel and may require a longer 4 barrel accelerator cable.
I'd be willing to sell my TA Stage 1 intake (dual plane) if you're interested. Was going to post it on the For Sale section but haven't gotten around to it yet!
